Or neither? I'd be buying either brown or black in both and hoping to wear as an everyday shoe with jeans. Are they too matronly? be honest. If they suck-what shoes do you mammas love?

I like #1. I think #2 is a tad too matronly.

I like them both but neither would stay on my feet. I like #2 better though. Not so girly.

I like both, but slightly prefer 2. I don't think they are matronly at all.

Don't hate me but I'm not a huge fan of either. There are quite a few adorable flats in that style, but a little more less-matronly by Skechers.

I've had a few of their shoes that have lasted for over 10 years.

What sorts of tops do you wear? I'm more inclined to pick the 2nd though I'm not in love with them because the details (the texture and the patent sections) might not make them great every day shoes- they may look too dressy or something. I guess I just don't think they are quite neutral enough and think they lend themselves to certain outfits more than an all purpose shoe.

I love the first ones. The stitching keeps them in the cute range for me. The second ones are creeping into frumpy land.

Honestly, I'm not crazy about either shoe. Not that I'm a fashionista or anything, but I've tried on shoes like that (Mary Jane style) in stores and I felt they made me look kind of dorky, very "unhip."

Sorry, but neither. Don't like the soles on 1 and that button on 2.

I bought some flats that I saw at Target. They have little support (as that style of flat often doesn't) but they're cute with jeans and if I plan to be out running around more then I wear more substantial slip-ons.

I agree with Lauren, too matronly. I like the sketchers. I also have some slip-ons from Lands End that are very comfortable.

Definitely the first one. It's really cute!

YIkes-I should have done a poll.

I wear flip flops around most of the time! I practically live in them, even in winter but the rain is hard for me to deal with. I usually wear jeans and long sleeve solid t's (very creative, I know ;)). I'm a SAHM so am either home or schleping somewhere with kids.

since they both got a lot of "no's", what should I be looking into, aside from the sketchers (thanks for the link-I will check them out in person when I can).

I have these simple clogs in brown and black from a few years ago. While I do love them, my feet are so big , they can be quite heavy for me to walk in!

I like the first one, I think you could wear it with most things. I have these two, and they are both really comfortable. The Nike ones are a little more comfy, but the DKNY are a little dressier.

Cole Haan also has some cute sneaker-flats, but they are too narrow for me :irked:

I think the first ones are really cute. The second look like a lot of other bland shoes out there and do seem a little matronly. :)

I like the black ones better, but don't like the dragon design/ imprint or whatever it is. I *love* patent leather details on black shoes :).
Looks like Sketcher has some good choices that are similar to the ones you picked out. I have some shoes by them and like them; they definitely have a lot of stuff to choose from and are fairly comfy.
Good luck!

I have a question first .... will you be wearing socks with them? That would put both of them out for me. I *must* wear socks in the wintertime because my feet freeze. I'm no fashionista either, but I wear Clarks clogs that are about three years old now. LOL Yup, with socks and jeans. No fashion model here. ;)

Well, this thread is eye-opening to me. I think both options are cute & aren't at all matronly, especially with jeans & a T. Show how much I know.

No socks!!! Honestly, if I could figure out how to wear flip flops in snow, I would so socks are a necessity for me in the cold!

I do really like the DKNY ones but not left in my size! I guess I will keep the search on and see if I can try any ones one around here (I live in the middle of nowhere so cute shoes are hard to try on for me in person).

LOL!! Trust me, I wear flip flops until my toes are about blue (probably weeks after everyone else in my area has packed them away for the season). I love, love, love my flip flops too. :)

Have you tried more of a ballet flat? Cole Haan makes some cute, comfy ones.

thanks for all the help. I wanted to update and say that I found and ordered these. I got brown and black. they are fleece lined so I hope my feet stay warm and that they fit well. I don't think these are matronly at all. they are also suede on the outside.

In case you are still looking, Land's End makes super cute, REALLY comfortable, stylish casual shoes. I lived in mine this summer, and have worn these every day this fall (I got the purple, but the black is cute too):

These are cute too (the sole makes them super casual though):

They have a limited selection at Sears if you want to at least get an idea of size.

ETA - If you sign up for emails, they have free shipping offers all the time!

I think you made a great choice since they are simple and classic which is what you want if it is your main, everyday shoe. I am also always looking to wear my flip flops :)

If anyone still needs shoe recs, sign up for emails from 6pm.com
They have different brands on sale each day/week and you can score some awesome deals. I just got these i black for under $16
http://www.6pm.com/tsubo-nipa-mecca-flame

These for $17.95 in a mocha pearl color for something a bit dressier
http://www.6pm.com/softwalk-bergamo-mocha-pearlized-patent

These because they were insanely cheap ($13?) and the color is obnoxious!
http://www.6pm.com/softwalk-step-n-up-kiwi-suede-mesh

And these because I have always wanted a red ankle strap heel.
http://www.6pm.com/fitzwell-hachi-ii-red

I got all four for around $65 shipped. Shipping is a flat rate of 6.95 regardless of how many pairs you order. You do have to pay return shipping too, so it is not as great as zappos or shoebuy, but at these prices, I think you still get a far better deal. The Soft Walk Bergamo's alone claim to retail for $115, and they are currently selling on Zappos for $88!

I saw these from Dansko today, and want to check them out too, since I am now lusting after a red maryjane after reading the thread on them.....BUt I think I need to exhibit SOME self control!
http://www.6pm.com/dansko-diana-pomegranate-veg-tan

Also, I just posted a shoe thread in the Mom Wear forum and got some good advice there too.

When it comes to fashion, I am SO uncool. But DH calls me a shoe-whore. I think I am! I can NOT pass up a good deal on shoes. I probably have more pairs of shoes then the other 6 people in mu family combined! But I rarely pay more than $30 for a pair, if that. The problem is I often have a hard time wearing the "cool" ones once I get them. I worry that the rest of my outfit is not hip enough to pull it off. We'll see how these work out when I get them!

Those green ones would look so cool with jeans and a tee...even khakis and a tee! I do the same..buy a lot of shoes but one the funky ones with a great deal.

Those are awesome! I wish they had 42s in black! 41 is just a bit too small. The perils of having size 11 feet. So hard to find shoes, harder still to find a bargain!
