DD goes outside rain or shine for recess at school. She has a nice rain coat and rain boots at school. However, she still winds up changing her clothes because her pants get wet between where the rain coat ends and the boots begin.

My husband has a gortex "rain suit" because he plays golf in the rain. THe pants have an elastic waist and elastic wide legs and are worn over his regular clothes.

DO they make such a thing for kids--I just need the pants really, though I guess I could get the whole suit and leave it at school.

Ideally I would love something that has buttons or a zipper at the bottom of the legs so she could put them on and off over her boots.

I tried searching for "rain pants" and got something like I want but for adults and they seem to be pants you wear alone not pants you wear over another pair of pants.

So do they make something like what I want, what is it called, and where to look..

TIA

They do ship to the US, though I'm sure REI carries something similar

Have you tried searching for gaiters? They are things (for lack of a better word!) that go over the top of boots (usually ski boots) to keep things from getting down into the boots. They are not pants; they are just several inches of waterproof material with elastic or something that goes over the top of the boot. I'm not sure how to describe them better.

Here is a definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaiters

Here are some pictures: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=gaiter&rlz=1R2GGLL_en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

Thanks!! I guess I needed to search rain pants toddler not just rain pants!

Thanks! I ordered the Land's End ones (and they have them to match the rain boots I bought on sale last month!)

We used to use some from the children's place that were nylon, in the boys' section, to keep Ds' clothes clean from the muddy sandbox.

Huh, when I was around college-aged and walking often in snowy weather, I sewed a pair of things like this. Had no idea they already existed. I am not a sewer and my homemade project did not work for whatever reason; I think they also made me the butt of jokes by a few friends of mine. I have always felt embarassed thinking of those things I sewed. But as I write this, I feel pretty cool for having thought of the idea and followed through (for once), even when sewing was not an inherent skill of mine. Boo on my friends for teasing me!
