Yes, saw the story during pregnancy insomnia last night. Their story is ridiculous - I'm guessing they had to be asleep and panicked when they woke up and realized just how badly they had messed up. Absolutely terrifying - hopefully this will prompt some reform for how many hours straight pilots are allowed to fly in a 24 hour period.

I saw this on the news this morning. They interviewed a passenger, who said that people had no idea anything was wrong until they landed and police boarded the plane. Very scary.

Considering my DH is about to start flying at least twice a week--I find this pretty disturbing.

They are extremely lucky some fighter jet didn't blow them out of the sky.

It sounds like they are lucky that another plane remembered another frequency they were using and could get a response using the other frequency. Otherwise, if they'd not been able to contact them, how much further would they have continued flying?! Scary.

Scary. It seems like it would be a good idea for flight attendants to do regular, mandatory checks on the cockpit, no?
