Next friday M is supposed to wear a costume based on his favorite book to school. We decided to do it backwards and find a book based on his costume. He is going as an astronaut but we don't have any space/astronaut books that are fun to read out loud. Since I am reading the book to the class I wanted something fun that they would enjoy. Any suggestions?

There's No Place Like Space by Dr. Seuss

or this one would make a fun read aloud, though it's not really about space travel or exploration

The Aliens Are Coming by Colin McNaughton

There are two simple (very simple) ones - one by Byron Barton, and one by Dan Yaccarino. One is called Zoom Zoom Zoom, I'm Off to the Moon (forget which one wrote that) and I can't remember the other title (myabe I Want to Be an Astronaut?). They are really short and simple, but sometimes that is good for read alouds.

Also there is a book called If You Decide to Go to the Moon.

The Jupiter Stone is nice, but maybe long.

Stars Stars Stars - I can't really remember anything about it.

Harold and the Purple Crayon has a spaceship one.

Oh, and Asch has one about the bear who goes to the moon, maybe Mooncake?

Our space phase ended a while back, so I am a little fuzzy on details! Hope that helps a little!

Zoom, Zoom I'm off to the moon by Yaccarino

Give my regards to the man in the moon--EJ Keats. My kids really love this one.
