My younger sister has been dealing with an eye issue since August. She woke up one morning with a "blind" spot in one eye. Her vision is kind of like someone with AMD. If you click this link

http://www.nei.nih.gov/health/maculardegen/armd_facts.asp

and scroll down a bit until you see the comparison shot of the two children, you kind of get an idea of what she is dealing with. I can't remember the name of her condition. It has affected every aspect of her life, she's only 20 years old, but she is one tough cookie. She is keeping the faith that everything will end up fine in the end. Fortunately she found a specialist in Louisville who is very good. He's giving her a slim chance that he'll be able to restore her site. She has her second appointment tomorrow which will begin a series of events in order to treat her. If you could, please spare a prayer or even good thoughts for my sweet sister. We are all praying for a miracle. Thank you.

P & PT on the way. My mom has macular degeneration. If it is what your sister is diagnosed with, you might want to look into taking Occuvite by Baush and Lomb. It is a vitamin supplement that you can get OTC at Walmart or Costco sometimes. My mom's eye doctor at Emory University Hospital eye clinic recommended that we all take it because it has a hereditary component. Mom also takes it.

My Grandfather has macular degeneration as well. He is 96 but has had it for many years in both eyes. Unfortunately, his is very serious but there have recently been quite a few treatments that I have seen articles about, but he is too advanced for any of them and has the wrong kind. In any case, P and PT for you sister. Hopefully there will be a treatment available for her!
