What is the most effective and inexpensive way to convert a VHS video on tape to a DVD disc? It's about 10 years old, and it's been packed up in a box for most of that time, so the tape should be in pretty good condition...I hope. No VCR anymore to do a test-view!

Thanks for your help!

If you don't have a method to play the video (VCR or old video recorder) you will have to have it done by a service. Just check your local area....there are lots of places that do this these days. We still have our old video camera so I was able to convert our VHS tapes to DVD at home with the help of a Dazzle http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/. Really time consuming but worth it in the end. If you only have one tape I would send it out....we had lots and lots.
