I'm about to hit the nightly limit for questions so I'm heading off to bed after this one.

I remember reading about some people using journals for their DC to write or draw in for Daddy rather than buying cards for each occasion. I've searched and can't find the thread that talked about this. I know there was a link for where to buy journals online at a reasonable price. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyone want to try to find the link? Thanks!!!

Never heard of it but I like this idea as I hate haveing 348239857 cards around. It would be nice to see the progression through the years.

Ooohh - no idea, but I totally love it! I will be watching this thread (and buying journals).

We do this (although I sometimes can't find the blank book in time and we end up buying a card :ROTFLMAO: ).

I just picked up a blank book (each page is maybe like 8.5x11) at Barnes and Noble. My kids draw pictures, write letters, etc. to daddy in it. DH isn't really a card kinda guy anyway, and it is nice to capture (most of) the sentiments in one place. And like you said, fun to see the progression year to year.

We use ours for bdays, Valentine's day, father's day, etc.

Yeah, after reading a thread about it here (for Father's Day?), I bought a couple from Michael's this summer and used one for DD and myself to write to him for Father's Day. One of the books is for me , so hopefully DH will fill it out and have DD do stuff with it for my birthday, Mother's Day, etc.
Since she's only 1, we've only done hand- & footprints and stuff so far, but I think it'll be really cute over the years. DH's bday is in 2 weeks, so I need to come up with something else for her to do- maybe a handprint turned into a turkey or something :).

Interesting! I love the idea of doing it as something to grow with a child in their child/parent relationship. I know I often recommend to students who go between homes of parents to utilize a journal as a way of letting the other parent what they have been doing while they are not together.

I :heartbeat: this idea! Its so much nicer than store bought cards, or even homemade cards that just pile up with nowhere to go. Totally doing this and so excited about it:yay:!! Of course, I think this is something I would appreciate more than DH. Actually, come to think of it, I think he'll appreciate it too!

Thanks for posting this great idea!

I totally missed this one ~ I have to order them before my birthday in January.....better late than never.

I love, love, love the idea of looking back at these over the years.
