View Full Version : Wondering how old you are version 2

I've seen previous posts on this, but I am trying to make the age ranges a bit narrower. I think I am 3-5 years older than a chunk of people on this board, but I'm doing the poll to see if that is accurate.

I'm thinking I'm about 10 years older than many of the posters, but not all. I'll make it simple, I'm 40. Results right now show 10 in the 32-34 age range and 9 in the 41 - 43 age range and only 4 in my range. None of that surprises me. What does surprise me is that you posted this at 9:30pmPST so it is after midnight on the East Coast and already 35 folks voted. I thought the majority of the posters were East Coast. Has a location poll been done before?

eta: and at this point only 8 people are 10 years younger than me.

I'm 24. I feel much older too, especially when I go to college with a bunch of girls my age who still go out and party every night. Party? What is that?

I'll be 37 next week! I often think/feel older (bit of an old soul), while others think I'm younger (usually 2-3 years). It actually bothers me to have people in my professional life think I'm younger - the thought process of many I work with and the company in general (mostly baby boomers) is that age is a qualifier for position. I disagree, I believe performance and potential are better qualifiers.

I'm 39 and feel it! I'm pleasantly surprised to see I'm not *that* much older than most of the mamas here.

One of the best things about my hospital stay when DS was born was one of the nurses looked at my wrist band prior to giving me meds and exclaimed "You're OLDER than me??? I wouldn't have guessed that!"

You are all children - will be 47 in a few months. I could actually be the mother of some of you, yet my son is only 5! So for all of you 20 somethings that say you feel so much older, imagine how I feel at almost 50 with a kindergartner. YIKES!

Am I really the oldest mom here? That's cool.

I turned 30 this summer....I'm finally not getting carded as much.....but I think that's mostly because I'm always with DH and he looks way older than I do!!

i will turn 31 on 11/21, 5 days after my due date with dd1! i could have a birthday baby! :bouncy:

looks like most of us are mid-late 30s, which is kind of what i imagined. i've always felt a little on the younger side, maybe because i'm still waiting on first baby, but also because you all have such wisdom and good advice to share! so thanks to all those who are a little farther along in the journey for sharing your sage advice with us who are still pretty clueless about the mom thing!

but also, way to represent, 20-somethings! :jammin: (that's my cool, hip young person emoticon!!)

I can see the median but will you calculate the mean and standard deviation for us, Beth? ;)

ETA, Oh wait, we can't; we lost our individual Xi's when we put into a histogram. I have a state exam on all this on Saturday for teaching, so it's on the brain...

I'm glad to see some other 40 year olds here. I turned 40 in January which means I'm closer to 41 than 40! ;)

I don't think I look or feel 40, numbers/age is relative IMO.

PS: I do love the bell curve, that's pretty cool!

I'm 38, but I keep forgetting it! Somehow, I continued thinking of myself as being in my early 30s - when I am now well into my late 30s. I must have seemed like a complete idiot when 2 times last week I was asked my age and had to really think about it. Most of the other parents in DS' daycare group are at least 10 years younger than me, if not more.

I am 34. However, if you would have asked me my age anytime over the last 3 years I wouldn't have been able to say for sure! I sort of lost track after 30 or something.
Lovin' my 30's. :)

Late in life parent. Youngest of my bothers and sisters…and also so old that I am having kids at the same time as my nieces and nephews. It is a contrast at family gatherings.

Yep, I've got to show this to DH, who teaches statistics. Maybe he can use it for his class.

I know the feeling, I am the youngest of 5. I have a great niece who is 1.5 yrs older than my boys.

I'm 36, 37 in early Jan., but like other PPs have mentioned, I have to think when people ask, I want to say 34 ;), even after January. I think of DH as 43, but he's 46.

Same here. Both DH and I are the youngest kids of late-in-life parents. We had our DS1 at the age that both of our mothers had us (38). My kids are younger than my niece's DD.
