I've had it with all the little boxes and containers where I store my jewelry. Makes it really hard to find that pair of earrings I am really looking for! Anyone have a recommendation for a great jewelry box (that DH can get me for our anniversary )? I mostly have earrings, pendants and necklaces. I'd love something attractive (wooden might be nice) but also easy to use and one that will hold and organize several pieces of jewelry. Thanks for any suggestions!

Not really pretty, but I use this from the container store:

I hang it in my closet with my clothes and just pick out what I want when I'm getting dressed. It is super easy to see everything and it stays perfectly organized. Now if I can just get the rest of my closet in order...

I have this and love it. Not fancy, but effective.

And I have an older version of this (http://jewelry.hsn.com/colleens-prestige-large-stackable-jewelry-box_p-5383203_xp.aspx?web_id=5599372&ocm=sekw|items_recently_aired), well actually 3 of them :) I love the clear lids and compartments, and the anti-tarnish is so nice. It looks like they do have a larger version that would sit on top of a dresser, but I enjoy having mine stacked in a drawer.

I keep mine stacked in these:

Some have bigger sections than others.. I organize them by type and it's very easy to find things since the cover is clear!

This one is wooden and could fit in a wide and shallow dresser drawer:

I use 3 jewelry boxes. Doesn't sound very organized, but I have my own system. I have a horchow leather jewelry box, that had a lot of compartments, I put jewelry in there that I rarely ever use, it's in my closet tucked away, most of it is jewelry that older relatives gave me, and not my style, but valuable jewelry. I have a very simple wooden one I got on clearance at Target after Christmas last yr, it has a glass slide cover with one large velvet container and the other half has the puffy rows for rings, etc.. That is my everyday jewelry box. I have about 10 of my most used jewelry, mostly things from my DH. I keep this on the counter by the sink. Then I have like some sort of sterile container, it has a ton of small compartments and a lid, I think it's supposed to be used for sewing items (like small spools of thread), I keep that in a drawer, it's what I keep costume jewelry in that on a whim I sometimes use.

Thanks for these great suggestions. I think either the Container Store or QVC ones would do the trick in terms of keeping the jewelry organized and not in little boxes all over the place. The BBB one may require more space than I have. Can the QVC one be hung up, or is it intended to fit in a drawer?

I have a wooden jewelry box that I use for my earrings, rings, watch, bracelet, pins, etc. I then have an acrylic tower for necklaces. I like that they hang and don't get tangled. Not the most attractive but very functional.

This is going to be great for Dd1. She has all her stuff in three boxes and it's such a mess.
