DH is going to be at the University of Kentucky in Lexington tomorrow.

Any awesome places to eat? Anything that Lexington is known for
as far as food?

Thanks!

Bella Notte. Love, love love this restaurant: http://www.bellalexington.com/

They make the best bread. I haven't been in Lex in over 6 years and I still miss that place.

ETA: There is also an awesome Indian restaurant near UK's campus. I can't remember the name of it though.

One of my favorite places, and is close to UK is: http://www.joebolognas.com/ The breadsticks are TDF.

Also, my MOST favorite restaurant of all time is Jalapeno's Mexican Restaurant. There is a location on South Broadway close to UK. The food is delicious!

Oh, and a big :yeahthat: to the suggestion of Bella Notte. It is super-delicious, but not really very close to UK. I lived in Lexington for most of my childhood and part of my adulthood, but those 3 places were my favorites.

I went to school in Lexington. :)

I was also going to recommend Joe Bologna's. Mine and DH's first date was there! ;)

Also close to campus is Alfalfa's:

And Ramsey's is a little further, but very good. The High Street location is the one I spent a lot of time at. :)

And I have been to all 3 of these relatively recently.

I have a cousin at UK who was a prof. football player for a bit after playing at UK. He's now a waiter at some restaurant near campus (forget which one) but if your DH has a HUGE guy as a waiter, it may be my cousin :)

It isn't originally from Lexington, but from Louisville nearby... I had one at Cheapside's.the hot brown (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_brown). Yum.

Ooo, Ramsey's. Can't believe I forgot that one. Their fried green tomatoes are awesome (and how's that for a specifically southern food :) ). They also have really great pies. And their cole slaw is the best I've ever had...and I do love cole slaw.

Their pies are awsome. :) When I was in school, I was really too poor to eat there, so we would just go for dessert.

Another vote for Joe Bologna's. I grew up in Lexington and went to UK for my first 2 years of school and loved eating there.

I just forwarded your recommendations to my husband. He is in Lexington
right now. He's there just for the day and then he moves on to Cincinnati.

Thanks so much!!!!
