I'm so close to having our Xmas card finished. I need to put a dotted circle inside a solid circle. I can't seem to find instructions for doing so. Can anyone help? Or direct me somewhere I can read/learn how?

TIA

I'm no photoshop wiz, but can't you just use the shape tool to do a circle?

You mean a polka dotted circle inside a solid circle?

ETA: I just went into Photoshop, sure that there was some Pattern Overlay that you could use, but in the version I have, there is no polka dot pattern! (I also use CorelDraw from ages ago, and that program has it...) The way I did it was to create a solid color circle, add a layer, then using the pencil tool, create a polka dot pattern. (I used a guideline, and created dots across the widest part, then copied that layer multiple times to create the pattern. THEN, I took the dots that fell outside of the circle and deleted those.) You could then use the Stroke tool to create the larger circle ouside the smaller circle (or create a larger circle and just send it to back.)

I'm sure there's an easier way, but I can't think of one at the moment.

Karen,

Thanks for the instructions. I'll have to wait until the kiddos go to bed tonight to try it. It makes my head spin right now. :)

JT, I used the shape tool to make the solid circle. I couldn't make an outline though. I'll try it though.

Thanks!

this is making me want to try Elements to make my own card. Should I, as a newbie? Will I go nuts?

Do you have elements or the real deal?

Use this link if you have Photoshop

and this one if you have Elements

I'd give it a try if I were you! I'd suggest you look at some sites for examples first. I'm not known for my creativity.:D

I'm glad it helps. I was doing the same thing except my dotted circle needed to be on the outside of circle. I was really struggling with it and started googling.
