I just ordered my daughters big girl bed. it is a full size. She hasn't started potty training just yet but i want to be ready. How do you suggest to make up the bed for protection?

A vinyl zippered cover with a mattress pad on top? Or will jsut a waterproof mattress pad due? any help would be great! thanks!

We use a waterproof matress pad ordered from kohls. Very soft and able to hol lots of liquid. Get it on sale with a code plus free shipping. Get two because when the first one is wet, you need another to put on the bed immediately so she can keep on sleeping. here is ours http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/bedandbath/mattresspadspillows/mattresspads/PRD~c15973/Home+Classics+Waterproof+DownAlternative+Mattress+ Pad.jsp

This is what we did. Zipped cover and regular mattress pad (plus a spare).

thanks! I found a great feeling waterproof mattress pad at target today and i will probably get a second one for a back up. The kohls one looks nice but i don't want to pay shipping. I will also just go ahead and put the vinyl one under it, i just hope it doesn't have that sound that some of them make.

What brand of vinyl cover do you use?

We got ours at Kohls and we've been very happy with it. It's not crunchy like most waterproof mattress pads.

We have two from target (one as back up) and they work great and were pretty affordable.
