Which is a better way to buy?

1. Buying things on a site like Etsy?
2. Shopping at a local, independent store but buying a mass produced item?

I have been looking to replace my diaper clutch that I originally had made at a local shop that has now gone out of business. I could go on to Etsy and buy one or I could go to a local maternity store and buy a Diapees/ Wipees.

Which is a better way for me to spend my money in terms of who to support?

As a local independent store owner I see the value in both. I try to buy from other independent shops as often as I can, but sometimes you just need something special from Etsy. Both are very grateful for your support!

Personally I'd probably end up buying from Etsy since online shopping is so fun and you'll have so many more options..... but from a completely theoretical ethical standpoint, I'd guess the local store is the better option since it is in your community's best interest to keep non-chain places in business.
