resurrecting a tired topic: front-facing out bookcases

i know this has been discussed ad infinitum here, but i was just wondering if anyone knows any good deals or new bookcases out there that showcase the front-facing out.


i'm specifically looking for a stand-alone bookcase (like PBK's old schoolhouse bookcase), so no magazine racks, b/c we're renters so can't drill holes into the walls. that also rules out rain gutters or other creative ways of making shelves.

I just got a catalog from Back To Basics Toys and they have that kind of bookshelf. I've never ordered from them (never really heard of them) so I can't vouch for the quality.

I believe Aldi had some similar to the Target link for pretty cheap on special buy...

glad you posted this OP. Is there a shelf with different sized slings so small board books would be visible?

thanks for all the suggestions! i originally wanted to stay away from sling-style bookcases but looks like it's the best value. thanks for the aldi tip!

eta: researchedout (nice SN btw!) the One SteP Ahead one that PP linked to looks like it has short slings for smaller board books.
