I want to get a potholder loom for my six year old, but I am seeing several brands.

any reviews on these?

Alex Loop n Loom http://www.kidsurplus.com/itemDetail-item-55%20PAN%20184W~catid-392~fromsearch-true.asp

Klutz http://www.kidsurplus.com/itemDetail-item-55%20KLU%20157054963X~catid-392~fromsearch-true.asp

Harrisville http://www.kidsurplus.com/itemDetail-item-55%20HRV%20552~catid-392~fromsearch-true.asp

the Klutz is plastic and the other two are metal. I assume metal is better?

I remember doing these as a kid.

Not really a review, but DD1 just got two for her 6th bday, the Klutz one, and one from Hearth Song, both plastic. The Klutz one has pretty good instructions/pic of what you can make (potholder, purse, etc.). We haven't gotten to trying them out yet!

The funniest part: I wasn't home immediately after DD's bday party, so DH was opening the gifts w/her. I called on my way home and he was giving me the rundown on the gifts. He tells me she got two giant bags of hair elastics - like 100 each. I'm rolling my eyes thinking great, we have hundreds already!! Of course I get home and find the loom and two bags of the looming "thread" or whatever it's called. :hysterical:

The Harrisville loom is excellent quality. I still have mine from when I was a child.
