View Full Version : OT?: Coordinating outfits for id boys

OK, our twin boys are identical. Given that, we dress them differently on purpose, to ease identification. (We usually color code, too!)

So, I've been kind of looking for some nice, coordinated clothing for the holidays. Maybe a nice button-down or sweater -- but in two coordinating colors in the same sizes (at this point, 12mos).

I'm just not having any luck with this. I'm wondering whether anyone has a suggestion on a store or brand to try -- maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places? I tried Gymboree during Gymbuck redemption, and gave up. I looked at Carters and Kid/Baby Gap today. (Gap was promising, but the only coordinated sweaters I found had fur-lined collars, so I couldn't see them staying on for any length of time.)

I will add that I don't want to spend a lot to do this, either, so sales and bargains are a plus!

Oh, a bonus if there's a way to coordinate with a big kid's outfit (size 6 boys), without it matching one of these more than the other... (No wonder I'm getting discouraged!)

We are doing a family picture next week and wanted something coordinating for my two DS's. One is wearing a 12m size and one is wearing a 5/6. I didn't pick "holiday colors" so I'm not sure this would work for you, but wanted to give an option.

DS #2 is wearing this http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=49953&vid=1&pid=694711&scid=694711002

DS #1 is wearing http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=49953&vid=1&pid=698389&scid=698389022 but it's in brown with white and light blue stripes

I looked and looked everwhere and after spending some money at the gap and then realizing the outfit for #2 was too big - I went to Old Navy and was very happy :)

Here is what I bought from the Gap that I will end up returning....

Good luck! It's hard!!

I sometimes have luck at Janie and Jack, The Children's Place, or a department store. But I have girls, so usually have more choices. A friend was able to coordinate 4 different age kids at TCP place one year and it is usually pretty inexpensive. I have had good luck at sales at J&J. Oh, and I think Target sometimes has really cute stuff!

Good luck!

The Greendog brand from Macy's is very reasonably priced and always has coordinating outfits for girls....never checked their boys' stuff but I bet it's similar. You can check Macy's online for them. The things we have from them are nice quality and I love that I can coordinate the girls without dressing them alike.

Even when I just had two boys, this was challenging. I usually did OK at Children's Place or Hanna (catching a sale). But to find two outfits in the smaller size that are similar but not identical may be harder. Can you just do solid color sweaters? Put one in red, one in green and one in navy or cream? The styles wouldn't have to match exactly for that to "work".

OK, Old Navy and Children's Place are looking promising, thanks!

I might look at Macy's, but being in the Chicago area, I'm not sure I can shop there yet... (they took over Marshall Fields and changed the name... and yeah, it's been a few years, but...)

I hear you. I have a Macy's gift card that has been festering in my wallet for probably two years - just can't bring myself to go in there and spend money, even if it is just a gift card.
