I got my Banana Republic 20% coupon, I have 3 coats in my cart. Here they are and the pros and cons:

http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=6754610120003&cid=40761

I love the cream color, basic style, (you can see the collar in black) but DH pointed out that with 4 yr old twins it could get dirty, getting in and out of car it would get dirty brushing against dirty car. Good point, can you spot clean wool?

Like the pockets, length, but review says the torse is not lined. Concerned toggles may be 'tready'. Grey is ok color, not my first choice. Would it look bad with brown boots? My favorite boots are brown!

I love this red coat!! Downfall I see is that it won't cover my bum, no easy button up, this is stylish, I am into easy and comfort, would this be a mistake or make me put on my make-up :D? Is it too tready?

The one I had planned on getting is now sold out in my size, but it didn't have pockets! It was this one:

Thanks for any advice/votes! I am leaning towards the grey, but am concerned about my brown boots ;). I want the cream, but don't know if you can spot clean wool....

I like the first one, but in black. Great price! It looks most like the one you were going to get but is sold out. It is a simpler design, but you can always add interest with accessories. I would be concerned about the cream as well if it is to be your primary coat. I like the gray one too, and wouldn't worry about the toggles being trendy. Gray and brown are both neutrals and they go together, especially with the brown in the toggles, and overall it is a more casual look. I don't like that it isn't fully lined, though. The red one is my least favorite. I've been eyeing a coat as well, waited for it to go on sale, but when it did, it sold out in an instant!

I like the first one in black best.

I like the 1st one, but there is no way *I* would get a cream-colored coat. It'd be ruined in under a week -whether I had a kid or not! But we have horrible salt and slush up here. If it comes in a dark color, I'd get that one.

LLB makes lined toggle coats.

I don't know what JCrew has but they do linings (for extra $) in most of their coats. They usually have a lady style.

You all have me thinking about the black one now ;). When the leather coats were really in (like 99-2000+) I had a nice black one, I guess I was avoiding black since I wore it for yearssss.

I do want one I will keep for years, so red is now out. I do have some very nice ankle Born boots in black, I just don't wear them (duh....) These brown Merrells are so comfy! They do have black on the bottom, so I guess it would be ok, right?

Plus I could put just about any scarf with the black...

I like all of them, but I personally would never get an ivory coat, especially as my main coat. It would get filthy, but thats just me. I really like the look of the grey one, and tried it on in the store, but who wants a wool coat without a lining? It would be very difficult to put it on over a sweater, I imagine. But it looks really nice. I really wanted a toggle coat for some reason, and ended up getting this one:

I think the grey would go fine with your brown boots, but I wouldn't wear a black coat with brown boots. In purchased my coat from Overstock - they don't seem to have it anymore, but they have good deals on coats. Last year I bought a grey wool Anne Klein peacoat for $50.

Good luck!

Love this one!

It's got pockets and it's lined!

I have a light blue peacoat, which I love. I don't think I could go any lighter, like an ivory. I'm not a fan of black wool coats b/c as my g'ma always said, "they attract everything except money and men. " :) I do have a lovely black wool coat but I have to use the lint brush on it pretty much everytime I want to wear it.

I do think the ivory coat is gorgeou but I just can't see it being practical for your lifestyle.

The modern toggle in gray is a nice running around town coat. It would like fine with brown shoes- it's a neutral. I bet you could have the closures changed in the future if you don't like the style later on.

Not a fan of the red coat.

The last one is really, really pretty. Love the neutral, nice color. Heck, I want that coat now!! :)

Echoing what others said. NO WAY would I get a cream coat - not at this stage of my life. My favorite is #1 in black. I'd rather lint brush it than constantly have it at the cleaners.

:crying: Whaaaaa!!

I really want the taupe coat, but I'm a 12 and would swim in the XL :( :(.

graciebellesmomma: Thanks alot for pointing out the grey peacoat!!

I looked in my closet. All my clothes are brown based. My purse is dark brown. ARG!!

I agree with the other posters. I love the coat that you picked out that's now sold out. Of the others, I'd pick the first one in black too. I really don't like the toggles.

Agree with everyone else - I'd skip the toggles and I'd never buy a light coloured coat.

Personally, I love the red one - the peacoat style is classic, always in style, and makes you look put together with no effort on your part.

Hey, if you really want a brown or taupe coat, Land's End has their coats on sale through midnight and if you live near one that's still open you can trade in an old coat to get another 20 percent off.

Thanks for liking the red one, I had to add it back in ;).

Now I am stuck between the red and grey peacoats.....I had been oogling the red peacoat at Gap but the reviews were awful and it looks a shade darker than BR....

CIW, thanks for recommend LandsEnd, but thats where I bought my last coat from and it was a nightmare. Just made horribly....

I have a grey peacoat, and it goes with everything. It would definitely go with your brown boots!

Thanks, that's good to know! I've never bought an LE coat but I was considering it. But I have had problems with their sizing -- always WAY too big -- and if the quality isn't there either, it's not worth my time.

The coat looked nothing like it did online or in catalog, I tried it out anyway but ended up despised it! It was brown, lol. It just hangs in the spare closet.

I ended up with the grey Peacoat!! I love the red but it looked a bit bright and I may get tired of red after a while. Thanks everyone!!
