Looking to get something for my husband to take my 16 month old along for a bike rides. Husband rides along with his dad every Sunday along the beach bike path for an hour or so and would like to take our son along. Are there recommendations on trailors vs bike seats, and which models?

We went with this one http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3498043&cp=2367438.2367828.2716579.2712468 and it has been great. We really didn't have the $$$ for a Burley or I may have gone with them. My second choice was this seat http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?page=copilot-limo-child-seat&categoryId=41427&storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1. We had our little puppy with us for that trip so the bike trailer was a godsend. Dd2 sat in there holding the pup.

We have a Burley double trailer b/c we didn't want to have to buy another after our second child. I really wanted a Chariot but those are way more expensive. We love the Burley and used it all summer!

We were looking for a Burley D'Lite or similar on Craigslist when DS was very young and then at a really enormous flea market we came across a double in excellent shape for about $50, so a great deal IMO. DH checked it over (he does his own bike maintenance and is a handy kinda guy) and it was totally fine.

It has been used for probably 4.5 years now.

Thanks for the info. A friend recommended an iBert seat. Does anyone have any experience with that? As to bike seat v trailer, everyone seems to have passionate opinions one way or another, but I have not yet made up my mind.

I think neeleymartin has an ibert. You might want to pm her and read the reviews on Amazon. I prefer bike seats if you live in the city or congested area with lots of traffic.

I have this:

www.madsencycles.com

It is incredible. Seriously, incredible. If funds allow something like this I would suggest it. The trailer just didn't seem like a ride together, and I hated having a bike seat attached to my bike, it made it feel unstable to me, and I didn't feel like I could just stop with the kickstand down, enjoy something, and feel like my toddler was safe. One throw to the side and the balance was all off. The Madsen has a sturdy center kickstand and a bench seat (or two if you want) with seat belts. The gear shifting and ride is really easy, and I can even make it up a long (although not overly steep) hill. If biking is something that you plan on frequently and for years this will last. It's also a rockin' cargo bike, you can toss in surf boards, stuff from the farmers market, jackets, groceries, whatever. Can you tell I LOVE mine?

We have a double Chariot and LOVE it. Very stable and rolls beautifully. I didn't feel comfortable with the seat - afraid of safety if we had a fall.

We have a weeride which is similar to the ibert. We love it. DH especially likes that he can interact with DS while he is riding. We used it with DS1 when he was little and now DS2 is enjoying it. I think the ibert keeps thier feet more out of the riders way which would be our only minor complaint about the weeride.

We got the In Step Quick -n-Easy Plus in blue from Target.
It was on clearance for $80ish this weekend. Haven't used it yet but it seemed to get good reviews.

We have this and it works fine. Not sure how it would really work with 2 kids this summer though. We may have to get another. I heard the one at Costco is pretty good. I've seen it and it looks much nicer than the In Step.
