A close friend is moving to Loudoun County and I'd like to buy her kids a membership to a children's museum, or an indoor playspace, or something along those lines...any ideas? If you aren't comfortable sharing where you live on the main board, please feel free to PM me with ideas.
Thanks!

Well, this isn't a winter time activity, but Great Country Farms is really amazing. It is where I have my CSA, but you can also get a Fan of the Farm membership and go whenever you want. The farm has tons of things for kids. There is a mini golf course, catch and release fishing, a bouncy platform (think open air bouncy house, but huge), animals that you can feed, animals you can't feed, baby chicks to watch grow up, mazes, slides, playground area, berry picking of all sorts throughout the summer, festivals with music and wine tasting from the vinyard across the way. It is just a great place. I think the CSA isn't as generous as some of the others around here, but the farm itself is amazing. www.greatcountryfarms.com.

:yeahthat:
They're 5 minutes down the road from me. A little pricey to get in, but a great place. Temple Hall is supposed to be fun, too. Leesburg has a nice animal park, but it is closed in the winter. There's a Pumpy's Playzone in Leesburg that I have heard good things about, although I haven't gotten over there yet.

There's also Sport Bounce in Ashburn- sportbounce.com and a JW Tumbles in the Broadlands. DS just went to parties at both and had a great time.
Where in Loudoun are they moving (you can PM me that if you want!)? If they are in/near Leesburg Ida Lee Park is great. There is a library, rec center, playgrounds, trails, etc.

I haven't been there yet, but I've heard such great things about it. DS was supposed to go there for a field trip, but it got rained out. I can't wait to check it out in the spring.
My kids went to a party at SportBounce in Ashburn and they loved it. I have also heard GREAT things about the Claude Moore Rec Center (http://www.loudoun.gov/Default.aspx?tabid=841). Also...be sure to tell her that the Dulles Wegmans in Ashburn has 1.5 hours of childcare for pottytrained 3yo's and up!!

Not Loudoun, but the Reston Zoo (http://www.restonzoo.com/) isn't too far from the county line. Fairfax County also has a fantastic park system.
