We are doing a gift exchange between some of the moms I hang out with. I am new to the group (the only new person) and I am not one to usually buy gag gifts. New territory for me here. I can think of a few kind of possibilities but I thought I'd ask for suggestions. The host said the gifts should cost around $7 and be funny, or even hysterical.

What can you think of? Thanks for any leads!!

Ooh, I could buy that creepy hand soap from Etsy. But, that might not be funny...it might just be weird. :)

I don't know how devotedly religious your group is but the two biggest hits at a recent shower were a toast imprinter--you push it into the bread before you toast it and the Virgin Mary imprint appears on your toast, like those "miracle sightings" people have. I got it for $6 at TJ Maxx. The other was a Jesus figurine night light from the Dollar Tree.

I don't know why the religious ones were such a hit, but everyone wanted them--it was in swap type of game. People almost came to blows over the night light!

I went to one where there was a gift that consisted of a pair of panties in about size 100 from the $ store,a bottle of midol, and one of those "chick-can" things to cook a chicken on over a can of beer! There was another one that I know of that had a toilet seat as the gag gift...

Last year, I was at the grocery store and walked by a can of Spotted D*ck and laughed hysterically. We used that as our gag gift for a family gift exchange. Hope this doesnt offend anyone!

I love this -- a rubber chicken that lays an egg when you squeeze it. My friends gave it out as a prize at one of their annual easter egg decorating contests. I have since given it as a gag gift and it has always gotten a great reception.

If you don't have a good grasp of this group's sense of humor (and don't want to risk offending anyone), you can always go with a bag of birdseed. Some other fairly mild but still amusing gag gifts: toilet plunger, a pack of batteries with a note that says "toy not included", or a cheesy "romantic" CD from the dollar store with a tacky fake rose and maybe a bottle of 2-buck chuck.

For funny stuff, I like to look at perpetualkid.com
How about "Proud parent pins"?

A few years ago, I gave my MIL a pair of fancy rubber gloves like the ones that were used in Desperate Housewives. She liked them a lot! Those were more than $10. How about this:

I've seen them at BBB, too.

Too bad the Shake Weight is $20. :D

... buy some $1 lotto tickets and just say remember us all when you win big?

I received a "Bugger Boy Borris" it is an egg separator that the egg whites come out the nose. I have to admit, I laugh when I use it.

What about a funny thing that not a gag? Barnes & Noble has a ton of books that are funny, some are from them, some are from other publishers. One of my favorites is the series from "The Bathroom Reader," which I'm sure you can get online, too. There's a "What's the Difference" book (porpoise vs. dolphin; England vs. UK vs. Britain vs. British Isles). Good stuff. Lots of comedy books like this.

They ate this in Harry Potter. What is it, exactly?

Oh dear!

Now, you know the flag goes on the backpack, eh? Not on the flannel shirt. And that hat is called a tuck/tuque. This is information you need to keep it authentic :) That perpetual kid site is a hoot!!!

If you're looking for something in addition to that, bottle openers that played the fight song (I'm sure they have them for every college team) were popular in my family a few years back.
