My last day at my old company was Wednesday! I'm 36, so it was REALLY difficult deciding to end my career to stay home, but I am just not one of those moms who can work full time AND be a good parent, a good wife, and a good CEO of the home all at the same time. I may be really sorry of my decision in a few months, but IT. FEELS. AWESOME. right now.

I will still be working some, as I am going to take over the administrative side of my husband's small business. We'll see how it goes, sleeping with my boss. :) But hopefully that will be enough to keep my brain active and still afford more time with the kids.

EEEEEK! But YEA!

Congrats and good luck!!!! Go easy on yourself with expectations b/c I am sure it will be a big adjustment. But, it has a lot of great parts, for sure! What a great age to be home with your little guy too! It's such a fun age with them becoming more interactive all the time. :)

Congrats! If you were used to a heavy-duty work load and are now switching to SAHM gear, the "culture" shocks can be surprising. Keeping busy with planned activities and searching out some other SAHMs to befriend will help alot.

I was SAH until recently and I miss it so much. Get out of the house and remember that the children are the priority (not cleaning and whatnot). I am so glad I got to spend the time I did with my children.

Congrats! I did the same thing at 29 to stay at home with DS1 when he was 6 months (I had a 5-week maternity leave) old, and just went BACK to work after 6 years at home with only part-time/project-based work. Doing the admin stuff for your husband's business should help, especially if you are used to having part of your identity tied into working/your job.

Congratulations and may you have an easy transition! I gave up my career at 39 to stay home, so I know what you mean. Truthfully, sometimes it's REALLY hard - but you'll never get these years back, so relax and enjoy!

Well, it's Day 2 and yep, it's harder than I thought it would be, although we are still at my parents' house 3 states away, so part of that is just being away from DH, messing up the kids' schedules, and being with my mom 24/7. But thanks for the kind words - I'll need to bookmark this thread and go back to it often, I think.

Congrats and welcome to the world of SAHM! I think my biggest surprise was that it's still an absolute struggle to find the time to get everything done! But if there's a little extra dust because I chose to play with DD instead, I'm OK with that!
