We did that for Ellie to celebrate starting school. I want to say we got her a 14" chain. I do want to mention that we got her what I think is called a "wheat" chain. It is stronger than a regular chain but doesn't kink like some of the others (snake chains maybe).

Honestly, we just picked it up at a jewelry kiosk at the mall for something like $10-15. He was really helpful with choosing the right size and style.
