DH is actually asking for a NICE sweater for Chrsitmas...whoo hoo! I love dressing DH! He wants a NICE sweater. He has one that his parents brought back from Ireland that he loves and I am trying to find one of equal quality. Most "nice" sweaters that I find are not machine washable, which is a negative for me. So...because I cannot actually touch online sweaters, any suggestions from you experienced shoppers?? Beg...beg :D

My criteria:

* Heavy knit (DH wears a t-shirt underneath and no coat)
* Machine Washable
* Somewhere around $100ish or less

The only nice sweater that I know of is Dale of Norway and they are normally not machine washable. I do not know if Hanna sweaters are quite heavy enough.

THANK YOU!!!!

LL Bean had some nice looking Aran sweaters in a catalog we got the other day. I wouldn't shy away from handwash only, those will be the sweaters made of nice wool. Its not hard to do. You can find some wool sweaters that are machine washable, too.

Here are my sweater suggestions - my dad loves bulky warm sweaters, so I kind of have my go-tos :

-HA have very nice men's sweaters, but they are usually all cotton, though certainly very thick. So, if your DH wants something warm or wool, not so great.
-LLB always has some nice wool choices, like Tarah said
-*sometimes* JCrew has some nice bulky, Irish-style wool sweaters, though they are often quite expensive
-surprisingly, I've sometimes found Dale of Norway sweaters or traditional Irish sweaters at TJ Maxx of all places. They're usually waaay off sizewise (as in, I'm normally a M, and I've bought an XS)
-you can order Dale of Norway online (google it) but they're not cheap. I got mine in Norway for an amazing price, but I think the prices have gone up there too with the advent of the internet. There are some Swedish stores that sell online (some located in the US). Check the "resources" section of Nordic Reach: http://www.nordicreach.com/resources/directory/
-you can often find nice wooly sweaters at local ski shops or sporting goods stores; usually Woolrich, but other brands as well
-I also found this in a search: http://www.clanarans.com/ca/catalog/# but I have no idea how reputable they are...but their sweaters sure look warm!
