Hello all!

My brother Ger is getting married in January (MLK Weekend) and I'll be 32 weeks pregnant.

The dress is more formal than casual, although the event will be held at a restaurant.

I am 5'8" tall, brunette with hazel eyes, very pale Caucasian, have a pear-shaped body with broad shoulders & chunky upper arms, and pre-pregnancy was wearing a size 14.

As my current bra cup size is probably an "F" or larger, I need something with sleeves, or at least straps that would cover a regular bra strap.

Long length skirts/dresses are preferred to short because my legs are heavy from my thighs down to my ankles (which, I guess, with the water retention, would more properly be called "cankles" right about now) and DH is usually skittish about my wearing something shorter, especially without heels. And tights with a formal-ish dress would simply be wretched.

I tend to prefer rich colors - greens, wine/burgundies, brown, etc. - to pastels, metallics or black. And pre-pregnancy, anything with a lot of structure (i.e. - princess seaming, darts, etc.) was a big help.

Where should I start looking? I have just over a month to find something great.

I saw a gorgeous velvet gown from Pea in the Pod in the latest issue of 'Fit Pregnancy' but at $200 it's a bit more of a splurge than I want to go for right now, especially with the gift list DH was giving me last night. (However, if it fit right, I'd pay almost anything. I draw the line at the $600 silk gown in the same photo shoot, though it was positively gorgeous!)

Have you checked out the Nordstrom selection? I love lots of them. :)

Do they carry any of these in-store? I have to hit Nordie's anyway for new bras.

OK, so far I've narrowed it down to these 2:

Found this one today:

(In the Bronze colour shown, not the black. I look better in browns than black.)

Or this one:

(In the silver color shown.)

The 1st one comes in the size I'd wear now, while the 2nd one might be tight in the hip (fit description indicates it's fitted at the hip) ... but I feel a little overwhelmed trying to choose between them! Aaaaaaaaaahhhh!

I like both but I'd choose the silver. The fabric will be more comfortable, I think.

Oddly enough, I'm comfortable in both satin and matte jersey, so I must be really weird.

The only thing I am cautious about is the hip fit in the silver gown; it's listed as "fitted at hip" and I can't find my tape measure to check if my hip measurement is too full to not be lumpy in something like that.

The advantage of the bronze one is that it's a bit more forgiving in the hip.

Good point. It sounds like you have sold yourself on the bronze one, if you ask me. :)

Thanks for the extra opinion.

Now I have to break down and buy it!
