DS is 17months old and I would like to start him on omega3 supplement. I am looking for a liquid form. Looks like fish-oil & flax-oil are the 2 main sources. Is one better than the other? Is anything harmful? The main concern with the fish oil seems the smell if it it stains on clothing etc. Is it really bad? Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much

Flax has ALA and in that form it can be hard for some people to convert to EPA and DHA.

We do cod liver oil (you'd want to research that vs. fish oil) and my kids like the taste of the lemon.

There are chewable versions if you are concerned about staining.

I don't know the answers to all your ?s but will throw out what we've tried.
DS1 is 19mo.
We started with this liquid (mixing into applesauce, yogurt, etc.):
http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Sears-Childrens-Omega-3-Strawyberry-Lemon/dp/B001A3YM82/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1259866869&sr=1-1
Now we have these chewables and DS asks for more:

And when those are gone, I want to try these:

We also buy the Egglands Best (or another brand at Target, I forget the name) eggs with the big omega 3 #s. I also keep a container of ground flax in the refrigerator for sprinkling into things.
