My cousin's husband is dying. She is 30 and he is 28. He has been in hospice care for the last week and not doing well at all. They were told he probably won't make it through the night. He has been battling cancer for quite a while. I am so sad for my cousin, can't even imagine what this must be like for her husband. They are so young! Close to my age and I can't imagine waaiting for my husband to take his last breath and watching him in such pain in the meantime. The thought of having a long life together shattered. I am just so sad about the whole thing for soooooo many reasons!

My MIL just lost my FIL after a long fight with leukemia. Even though his prognosis had been clear for a long time, that didn't make it easier. From our family experience I'd just make sure your cousin has someone in the family who will be there for her, especially to make phone calls and answer questions. It's such a hard time for everyone.

Not that dying is ever easy, for ANYONE involved, but I have heard that hospice can really make a huge difference. Sending prayers for all of you.

Thank you again to everyone for your thoughts. He passed this morning in their home. I haven't spoken with her yet but hope she had support at the time.

I still struggle to understand WHY a 28 year old had to endure a 4 year battle with cancer and WHY a 30 year old is now a widow...WHY a mother had to lose her son, a father his son and a family a loved one. Things just don't seem "fair" sometimes and I know that nothing in life is! I've been reminded that every single day is a blessing and each morning we are given the best gift in the world! Don't forget to "love up" your loves ones today!
