I know this is techincally MomWear but I did a search and someone asked the same question three weeks ago and only got one response.
I need snow boots, higher than ankle height. Is there anything that is warm, practical and at least a little bit stylish that you like? I am willing to spend a bit of money (up to $100) only because I hold onto boots FOREVER. As in I just threw out my Timberland boots from 12 years ago (or maybe older but I refuse to really do the math).
My DSD's Uggs look warm but completely impactical - they are soaked on days it actually snows. I need something waterproof.
Ideas?

I have a pair of Sorel Caribou's (which I purchased when I was in college and needed boots for my winter job at a ski area). Not entirely stylish- but my feet are always warm and dry when I wear them. http://www.sorel.com/womens-boots/women,default,sc.html

I have an older (3 years, maybe?) pair of Columbia boots similar to these (http://www.zappos.com/columbia-bugaboot-omni-tech-winter-white-lux). They are great for playing in the snow, shoveling, wearing out and about when it's very messy, etc. Wouldn't call them terribly stylish, though. They are warm and comfy and definitely waterproof.

I do have a pair of sand colored Uggs that I treated 2X with Kiwi Super Protector spray when I got them and they are fine for casual wear when it's snowy. I wouldn't splash through puddles in them, but they do better than I thought they would. No discoloration or anything from the spray either, which I was nervous about initially.

Love the look of the Sorel Caribous that Erica posted, FWIW.

I bought some Sorel's about five years ago, and they've held up really well. Very warm and surprisingly comfortable--but not very stylish. I still love them, though.

I have some Sorel white furry boots. They are so warm and dry. They look like they'd be from Gymboree. A friend borrowed them and I about came unglued looking for them in the attic last year on our one snow day. I need to email her now about them because we'll be passing her house this weekend.

I have Merrell Yarra boots and absolutely love them! They keep my feet warm and toasty and look cute too :) I shoveled 6+ inches of snow in them this morning and my feet were warm and dry when I came in.

I bought this Sorel Snow Angel boots last year from 6pm.com for $43. (Thanks to this board.)

They are very warm. The zipper didn't stay in place sometimes, but I still like them a lot.

I have the Sorel boots that Erica linked above for super snowy and cold conditions. I don't like to wear them everyday, but that's just me. They are veeeery warm! They got me through Newfoundland, and that's saying something! They were bought out a few years ago (after I bought my boots) and I don't really knwo if their quality was affected or not. They've certainly gotten more "trendy" since then.

I also have La Canadienne boots for dressy occasions...they are warm-ish, but not good enough for QC winters, even though they're from here. I used to have a pair of Hush Puppies for everyday - you might check them out too. Though the company was sold a few years back, so I don't know if the quality is the same or not.

My everyday boots split a seam last year and I need to replace them so I'll probably be checking out Sorel's more "fashionable" boots in the next week. When the plows hit our neighborhood LOL. Should have thought of it a week ago :) The other big Canadian brand is Pajar: http://www.pajar.com/en/Pajar here is my disclaimer: I don't know if they're sold in the US, or if they're in your price range. (Sorry) Where I live, boots (multiple pairs) are a big necessity, so I don't tend to pay attention to prices like I usually do with other items.

Piperlime is having a sale today 30% off a lot of the boots mentioned in this thread. If I hadn't already bought Merrell boots and mocs plus running shoes since BF, I'd be looking at another pair myself!

I just bought a pair of brown suede Bare Traps that have a small bit of fur trip at the top. They go slightly above my ankle. Got them at DSW and they had a bunch of styles (some taller ones). I've warn them twice now and they seem warm and are quite comfortable.

I have Sorel Joan of Arctic. Sorel was linked here earlier - they're the ones the model is wearing. I love them!

I also really like these Land's End ones http://www.landsend.com/pp/DorySnowBoots~198986_-1.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::OOK&CM_MERCH=SRCH_00001&origin=search

Boots are a tough buy, by the time you need them they're sold out :( I called and searched like crazy for my Sorels last year right after x-mas, they were sold out everywhere. Looks like Land's End is down to just a few sizes.

I got them for around $65 at a shoe store at our local outlets. When you wear pants over them, they look like shoes, not boots. But I think they're cute enough to tuck pants in if you desired.

I have the Sorel Snow Angels from a few years back, definitely not purchased on sale -- got them in a snowstorm in a ski resort. Not a good time to buy boots!

I love the Joan of Arctic but just can't justify them as my other Sorels look brand new.
