Broken Leapster

My son's Leapster is not working. The touchpad seems to be broken and my husband says he cannot recalibrate the screen?!?!
DO you think this is really broken? Should I call leapster or buy a new one?

Same thing happened with our Leapster. I called Leapfrog and was told that since it was over the 1 year warranty time that I was out of luck. Actually I think they offered me a new leapster at a discounted price, but I can't remember the price and I didn't take them up on it because I was so aggravated at the time. We also tried recalibrating the screen with no luck...very frustrating!!
