i need a new mixer (the beaters on mine rusted and i can't find replacements), any recommendations? i would love a stand mixer but don't have the space for one so I'm looking for a handheld.

Love my Kitchen Aid! http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KHM9PWH-9-Speed-Professional-Mixer/dp/B00004SGF1/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1260624798&sr=8-1

It's been going strong for years, and it's an especially good choice if you don't have a stand mixer since it has a lot of power.

Been using a Kitchen Aid 5-speed hand mixer (http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=238423&CategoryID=46708) for nearly 10 years and would definitely recommend it. I don't have a stand mixer and frankly have only missed having one a couple of times.

I have the same Kitchen Aid hand mixer and got it in college from my mom and it's still working great 12 yrs. later! Never had an issue with it.

I have the kitchen aid 9-speed too. it is the best hand mixer I have ever used. With eggs it is AMAZING! I never knew how bad my old mixer was until I had this one. It was a great birthday present. I have a kitchen aid stand mixer and I now only use it for bread, because I like the hand mixer so much. I like being able to mix in the sink to keep the mess down.

thanks everyone. since no one recommended cuisinart, i passed on the WS deal today. (i thought about it and was tempted but since i mistakenly thought i could get the same deal on amazon, and the only recommendations that i got here were all for kitchenaid, i didn't jump on it.) i hope i did the right thing.

so, should i go for a 5, 7, or 9 speed?

I have a KA 5 speed and it works great for me; I've never felt like I needed one with more speeds. I do have a stand mixer and use that for most of my big baking projects, whipping egg whites, etc..., but I use my hand mixer for smaller projects, mashed potatoes, and things like that.

but if you didn't have a stand mixer? i don't have a stand mixer so my hand held will need to be my do it all.
