DH uses plastic grocery bags for his lunch (that I make/pack) every day. But now that I have switched to reusable grocery bags, our supply is quickly dwindling. He says he doesn't want anything else so he can throw it away when he is done, but in reality he almost always has some sort of "tupperware" to bring home because I don't use plastic baggies much any more either. I could give him the same kind of thing that the kids use, but if possible I'd like to find something a bit more grown-up, but still reasonable in price.

TIA

DH takes food to work every day and always has it packed in containers. He's been through several different lunchbags but is currently using this (http://www.californiainnovations.com/products/ci/coolers/zipperless-hardbody-cooler/) one from California Innovations. I think I actually found it at Walmart.

My DP has been pretty happy with her Built NY lunch bag. It does not look girly which was crucial for her (she has the "Gourmet Getaway" in black.) Also, it does not take up a huge amount of space on its own so it can be easily stuffed in another bag, but it still insulates some.

I get my DH lunch boxes at Costco -- sometimes they are California Innovations, sometimes Columbia (I believe they are all made by the same company).

Would your DH carry something like this (http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444177 1887&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302699955&bmUID=1260735980230)? I know many male doctors who use that bag or similar ones (REI carries a similar one, Tumi would be more upscale). Lunch boxes of various sizes fit nicely, change of clothes or any files, and it definitely fits in a locker. Virtually indestructible -- I've had one of those for over 15 years (I use a larger one now)

Thanks for all the suggestions. My hubby saw me looking at some of the insulated "containers" and asked if I was considering them for him. He definitely wants something with a shoulder strap, as he has a rather long walk from the parking lot to the hospital, and then a long walk through the hospital to the OR locker rooms. BUT he specifically said he did not want another bag like the messenger ones. He is truly happy with his plastic bags right now, and rarely carries anything else into the hospital with him. He throws the plastic bag in the fridge with the other lunches, keeps spare shoes in his locker, and puts his ID/pager/phone etc in pockets. SIGH. I was looking at envirosax for my mom and our secret santa family exchange and actually saw these

at reusable bags . com. I bought the black and slate one and am hoping that he won't think it is too purse-like. We shall see.....

Good luck! I hope he likes the Flip and Tumble bag. I was surprised my DH said no to it when I showed him. Given the way your DH would use it, it sounds perfect.

LLBean and Lands End both have lunchboxes that have shoulder straps. Not sure if they'd be too bulky. They're definitely not as bulky as the one my DH lugs back and forth!
