do car seats ever go on sale?

my daughter is almost reaching the tip of her snugride, so i am in the market for a roundabout 50. do car seats ever go on sale? does it make sense to wait until after christmas-- would it be cheaper then?

I know people have found that seat for as low as $150ish, I'm surprised the google search shows them that low, but then when you click on the actual links they are coming up at MSRP 199. At least the few I tried...

There are definitely sales, though, you just have to hunt around with that target price in mind (and use ebates or upromise to get a little kickback, check sites for coupons, too).

I think BRU is having a sale right now on certain car seats, and at BBB, you can use Bed, Bath and Beyond 20% off coupons (non-expired ones) on certain brands.

i just bought an RA 50 at BBB for $170 (had an email coupon for 20% one item), but no store in Massachusetts has car seats. so if anyone has an online coupon for BBB that they won't be using, let me know-- still need one more RA 50!

Here's what I would do...there's a website called www.hipmonkey.com (http://www.hipmonkey.com) where you can currently get the Roundabout 50 for $159.99- its $199 plus 20% off with coupon code 20THANKS. I would go to www.diapers.com (http://www.diapers.com) and get a price match over the phone. Then, assuming this is your first purchase with diapers.com, you get additional 10% off. That brings you down to $144. Not bad, huh?

Diapers.com will price match the actual price, not a coupon or discount code. At least that is what they told me when I tried that trick.

I'm in the market for a convertible car seat too, and its been my experience they don't go on sale. I was purposefully waiting til Christmas to get a good deal. The best prices I've seen are on albeebaby.com. They have a 15% off sitewide sale right now (code 15OFF). However, I tried applying it toward a boulevard that was on sale for $229 and it was declined (only applies to certain items). Considering most places sell the boulevard for $309, I guess $229 is a good price.

Seats do go on sale, just not in the time frame that might be convenient for the buyer. You can shop for weeks and get a 'pretty good' deal, or shop for months and get a truly amazing deal (Like the Marathon, normally 279, not bad at 229, but sometimes 179, if you can wait or like the pattern it comes in :))
