View Full Version : Does your DC let you know what side he/she wants to be nursing on?

DS has recently started throwing fits if I don't nurse him on the side he wants. It's not like he has a left or right side preferance, as his choice usually varies. This doesn't just apply to the beginning of a nursing session either. When he is finished with one side, he lets me know that as well. I guess that's what he's doing, nothing else will settle him down besides switching sides. Any BTDT? BTW, DS is 4.5 mo.

I think it's fairly common.
In my case, DD not only preferred one particular breast (I was totally lopsided for a year), but she also insisted (since she was 2 months old or so) to only be placed on one side (so she'd always be on her right side, and I'd just gently "slide" her from one breast to the other). She simply would not eat on her left side, and it was hell until we finally got what she wanted (several hundred $$ worth of Lactation consultant visits did not help; it was DH who figured it out after all).
