Which way do your stocking toes point?

Silly question, but I've always wondered this. Is it more common or correct for the toes to aim towards the left, or the right? How do you do yours? I'm wondering because I'd like to get some new stockings after Christmas and have them embroidered, but I want to know which side (top of the stocking) to have embroidered :ROTFLMAO:.

Hmmmm, never thought about it. But now that I look, ours all point to the right. I have one I bought for the dogs this year that has "Good dog" on one side and "bad dog" on the other. If I have it on the good dog side, then the toes point to the right.

I can't grasp how one way or the other could be more or less correct. I have never taken note of it.

OBVIOUSLY should be to the left!
But then I read these other posts about putting them to the right.....
Maybe it's just cause I'm left-handed?

Of course it doesn't matter. But it did crack me up to learn, upon reading this thread, that I have an opinion at all.

Opposite to the PB picture in the above post. ETA: Scratch that. Our new embroidered LE would hang the same way as that photo. When I used non-embroidered (could go either way) stockings, I hung them the opposite way.

BUT, we don't hang them anymore. Too heavy and they fall. Too much good stuff in them! :)

Ours always point to the right - I don't know why, but that's the way they hung growing up, so it just looks wrong the other way. :)

Hmm, I'm left handed and my stockings point to the right, but like pp said maybe it's just the way we were raised?

Mine are to the right, b/c they're kind of heavy and that's how they hang nicely wo/twisting. Also, one has a design on it and it faces that way.

Ours are actually mixed. :) DD, DS and my stockings hang with the toe to the right. DH's stocking has the toe to the left and happens to be a lefty. As a side note, my mom gave DH his stocking the first Christmas after we were married and personalized it herself. IIRC, her stocking has the toe to the left also.

I don't really care as long as they all point the same way. In the past they have pointed to the right because that is the way I embrodiered our names. But this year they are pointing to the right so that it isn't obvious that I haven't made Audrey one yet. :bag I really need to make new stockings for all of us.

To the right. They are personalized and embroidered. If pointed to the left, the backs would be showing, plus they just look funny that way. ;)

Well, ours point to the left, because they're hanging from the staircase railing, which descends to the left.

My grandmother hand made each of ours when we were born (well hubby's when we got married). They all point left. :)

Ours point to the right. It just seems like the natural way to me, but maybe it's b/c I'm right handed.

We are a family of 4. We hang them from the mantle, 2 toward each end -the ones on the left point left, the ones on the right point right.

Our stockings were crocheted by my grandmother and have our names on them. They hand pointing left.
