A good friend just had twins. She had a boy and a girl. Any great gift ideas?

A case of burp clothes/cloth diapers. :hysterical: That's what we needed.

I always wish we had gotten those "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" onesies with the Dr. Seuss characters on them, but that fits out sense of humor.

We loved matching outfits that weren't pink and blue.

There's also a lovely boy/girl twins book that they'd like in a few years: Hello Twins (http://www.amazon.com/Hello-Twins-Charlotte-Voake/dp/0763639222/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1261416063&sr=1-5) (One of the reviewers didn't like that it had too few words, hence the three stars.)

I also thought the Thing 1 and Thing 2 outfits were super cute and funny. And it is hard to find cooridinating/matching outfits for B/G twins, so that would be fun. Monogrammed stuff is always nice too.

I think I want to get her a "practical" gift because I am sure she will get tons of clothes. Any more suggestions? Thanks by the way!

Do you know if she is nursing or will nurse? Are these her first children?

She already has another daughter who is 4 or 5. I have no idea if she plans to BF. She did BF her first one.

People seem to like this BF pillow for twins.
http://www.amazon.com/Twins-Feeding-Pillow-Soft-Denim/dp/B000QX0DGW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1261421829&sr=8-3
I LOVED these, but I think it's kind of a controversial gift, to be honest since bottle propping is frowned upon: http://www.amazon.com/Leachco-Keep-Easy-Bottle-White/dp/B002RT93U0/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1261422037&sr=8-14
Also, the Eurobath was one of the best things we got for our girls since it let you have hands free to take care of the other baby while bathing the first. REALLY helpful.

We loved the eurobath as well, but I did have to keep a hand on the baby in the tub at all times because they wiggled enough to slip out of the infant part. The EZ-2-nurse pillow that Melanie linked to is what I use (still use it). Couldn't have lived without it.

2 things I needed the most of for the first few weeks (other than sleep):

1) Diapers

2) Meals .There is NO time to prepare food in the first many weeks. We were lucky to have help in this department but it was a challenge even to heat up food to eat. So any easy-to-prepare meals or casseroles that you can provide WILL be greatly appreciated. And if she is going to BF, I can assure you she will be ridiculously hungry. Like hungry to the point of tears and it's tough when you don't have time to get yourself food and you feel like you are going to die of hunger. I am not exaggerating. Just think of the milk you have to make for 2 babies. Wow this brings back memories. I do not miss those days, esp around the 4-6 month mark when the babies are taking the greatest volumes of milk.

Idea from another thread: gift cert for a professional photography session with the twins

And lastly, one thing I now wish I had: since we've had to separate the girls for naps, I wish I had a baby monitor that had transmitters that can go into two separate rooms.

I have 10 month old twin boys, and completely agree with the previous post. Diapers and wipes were the most practical gifts we received. Also, we got a Sam's Club membership from my parents which turned out to be a wonderful gift. That runs about $40 and has saved us a ton of money since we have to buy so much formula and diapers.

You could also do a gift certificate to one of those Dream Dinners places (where you go and either make your own meals or pick up frozen ones). Or better yet you could just take the pre-made meals to them. The hunger from BF'ing is out of control and it is sooo easy to forget to eat.

That is a great idea. Our church did a similar thing for us and it was so nice. A friend went with me to make the meals and I got a little fun girl night and some great, easy to heat meals. A big blessing for us.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm still mulling it over!

The best thing people did for me after my twins were born was to take my older two out for fun. I was so busy with the twins that a simple trip to the park was completely unmanagable. I had a few friends and family members come over regularly to play with my older two and it just made a world of difference here.

I would suggest diapers and wipes. For boys, Huggies Supremes are great and for girls, Pampers in the teal box are great. I would also get hyper allergenic wipes.

Another idea is to bring a meal or two over and/or a Crock Pot and a recipe book.

Lastly, any help you can give via your time would be great... a little dusting, cleaning a bathroom, going to the store or other errands, etc. would be most appreciated. And lastly don't forget to baby the father too ;)!

Clothes for the twins at an older age would be a good idea as long as you consider the season, etc... Maybe 6 months or something... Staple clothes such as onesies should not matter.

I saw her yesterday and she said she is all set with dipes and got the twin BFing pillow. She said to just get something fun. Any ideas?

there is a cute cd "twinspin: tunes for twins".
i echo the dr. suess rompers--thing 1 and thing 2. you could get them in 6 or 9 months.
not a twin gift, but socks from jazzy toes are adorable. they have a pattern to look like sneakers, or mary janes, or loafers.

Do they have different first initials? If so, I'd get them onesies with their initials on them from etsy. Or how about name blocks from etsy:

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=34941676

Cute personalized burp cloths? Their own lovies?

http://www.etsy.com/shop/loviesformybabies

(note that I paid $16 each from that seller back in September - she raised her prices for the holidays and looks to have been cleaned out, so you might ask before ordering anything)

Another cute lovey - this seller has a number of cute items:

We've said that the best gifts are:

Zip sheets from: www.cloudsandstars.com You can get different colors for boys and girls.

Extra large blankets from: www.bugnbelle.com They are the best for swaddling. Again, different patterns for boys and girls.

Sleep Sheeps: www.cloudb.com
