Does anyone know if Crocodile Creek dishes are considered "safe" - are they on the good list or bad list? I think they're melamine. A local store has them on closeout so I thought I'd get some to give away as gifts, but not if there are concerns about safety.

I don't know about dishware specifically, but they did detect some not so great stuff (lead? Can't remember the details) in some of their toys a few years ago. The playground style balls come to mind. Not sure about the paint used (would hope on dishware it would be checked carefully). We've always avoided melamine on the whole.

THat doesn't really help I guess!

Sounds like a miss to me...I'll skip!

Yeah, I don't know if they remedied the situation or not. I had one of the playground balls (they are a local company here in NC although their products are MIC). That's why I remember the playground ball situation specifically because I bought one at a local indy toy shop and felt okay about it since they are also a local company. And then the testing came back w/ lead or something else not great in certain patterns/colors of the ball.

Maybe their dishware has always been okay though. I was just a little sour about the ball thing ;)

I don't know about their melamine stuff, but DS got the Dump Truck Lunch Box (http://www.shopatron.com/products/productdetail/Dump+Truck+Lunchbox/part_number=4410-1/476.0.1.1.17349.0.0.0.0?) and the Vehicles Drinking Bottle (http://www.shopatron.com/products/productdetail/Vehicles+Drinking+Bottle/part_number=1035-7/476.0.1.1.57443.0.0.0.0?) from Santa this past weekend. (Santa visits the Fire Fighters and their families early and comes on the big, red ladder truck). Both items are have labels/inserts saying that they are lead free, phthalae free, and BPA free. They are also really cute. DS loves them.

Hey, now that you mention it, my kids drink out of the CC water bottles we have. THey got them as a party favor and they are nice :) The paint isn't in contact with the drinking surface anyway, but I had forgotten the ones we have are CC...and we still use them :)

I just remember being surprised about the ball thing because I thought they had a better reputation at the time, kwim?
