Hardly read any books this year...I know, it's awful.

I enjoyed 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society' and 'The Love Dare'. I am reading 'Have a Little Faith' at the moment. I am trying to find the time to get back into 'The Blessing of a Skinned Knee' http://www.amazon.com/Blessing-Skinned-Knee-Self-Reliant-ebook/dp/B000FBJGCC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=digital-text&qid=1261539428&sr=1-1

My moms Kindle arrived today and I am having a heck of a time choosing her first book. She is *very* well read. What was your favorite book of 2009?

I have to keep thinking, but off the top of my head, I really enjoyed My Life in France & Mennonite in a Little Black Dress. I liked Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society, but it didn't keep me quite as engaged as the other two. I would definitely like to read The Help.

I haven't read much fiction this year but I loved People of the Book - could not put it down!

The Help was wonderful. I couldn't put it down.

I just downloaded New York to my Kindle - so far, am enjoying that as well. And it was just released a month ago, so less likely that she's read that.

A couple of older, but somewhat less popular, books that are on my list are Pope Joan and Loving Frank - those may be possibilities as well.

Are these books I've read in 2009 or are they books PUBLISHED in 2009 :)

I have enjoyed several books none were published in 2009. I am SO behind. SIGH.

I absolutely loved The Help and Guernsey. I just read Three Little Words in one day. Very powerful.

We cross-posted - The Help is on my list too and I think you'll (well, she'll) be happy with it!

Currently reading A Sense of the World: How a Blind Man Became History's Greatest Traveler by Jason Roberts. It's an amazing story. I got it for MIL at my local indie bookstore last Xmas & it made its way back to me.

I've read a number of good ones this year, but I don't think any were published in 09. Off the top of my head, I liked:

The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao
The White Tiger
The Book Thief
Eat, Pray Love
I also read the whole Sookie Stackhouse series, and that was awesome!

At the moment I'm going through a Truman Capote phase. I just read Other Voices Other Rooms and now I'm reading Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I also read Guernsey, but to be honest, while I liked it, I didn't love it.

ETA: I really love the book threads on these boards. I've gotten lots of good suggestions.
