I've read the threads and a couple articles, but now I'm just curious how many of us fall on which side of the fence.

No, because of all the people on here who have had bad experiences with them + ds has no interest. He would likely be interested for a few days then it would collect dust.

Well fortunately, my kids have no interest. Sarah didn't even know what they were when I asked her about them.

I bought 2 on Walmart.com on impluse just because I saw they were in stock and I could get them (stupid shopping addict me!). Then on Christmas Eve when getting all the gifts together I decided against it. A combination of kids already having way too much and concern over the chemical testing results.
They are still in the back of the closet in case I decide to give them to DD for her Bday next week but most likely they will be going back.

I don't have a problem with them, but I bought two plus some accessories for my kids and they were a total bust. Ours still work, but no one plays with them AT ALL. I feel like I fell for the Tickle Me Elmo of 2009.
big hit here. we have 5 of them along w/most of the accessories. they're a lot of fun and act rather crazy. Mind you my kids LOVE wedgits and and other classics. Cheap toy because I didn't pay ebay prices. :) If you can pay the retail, go for it

We have two starter sets and a few hamsters. The starter sets are a miss, but the hamsters themselves are a hit. For under $10 a piece, the hamsters are pretty cute and animated and fun for the girls. But I wouldn't bother with any of the accessory sets or structures for my DDs since even the starter set structure was a miss.
TRU had plenty of individual hamsters, one set of 3 hamsters, and a few accessory and structure sets yesterday when I was there. I guess they aren't so hard to find anymore.

I think DD may have seen a commercial for them when we were visiting friends last week and saw a TRU email ad for them, but they are not something that is on her radar.

No I wouldn't have bought them, even before the chemical concerns I was not impressed with them. I cannot believe people were paying $40+ for these things on Ebay.

No, because I see them being tangled in DD's hair on day 1.
If that wasn't an issue, and someone had an interest, I would probably be fine.

My 4.5 year old DS LOVES his zhu zhu pets. We have 3 hamsters the ramp with the slide and the wheel. He also got a little carrier with a blanket. He plays with our neighbors DD and they have lots of fun. They were a surprise big hit for Xmas.... we found them at CVS.

DS isn't interested. A friend of MIL bought 2 extras and offered them to MIL before returning them. Thankfully MIL asked me first and I told her I doubted DS would be into them. They're not on his radar. A friend has 2 DDs and they wanted them for Christmas. DS prefers his matchboc race car, his snap circuits etc, he's never really been into stuffed animals.

I don't know what they are except for what I have inferred from BBB. T has not mentioned them. One thing not cable or TV reception means for us at least for now if that he does not really know about the fad toys as much. Maybe when he gets older.

Not even on the radar screen here.
Nope. DS1 doesn't even know what they are. And even if he was, I doubt he would be interested in them. These days he is most interested in books, legos, board games, and snap circuits.

I think I'm gonna return it. Still on the fence.

Big hit here! Even dh is having fun with them, lol. We have no carpet which makes them much easier to play with.

I picked up one on a whim as I was grocery shopping at Walmart a couple days before Christmas. All three of my kids have played with it every day since they got it. In fact, right now DS is using the new magnatiles to build a maze for Mr. Squiggles to see if he can find his way out.
