And I can't find any. I have wide feet and most of what I've tried on in stores are too narrow. I haven't made it to an REI or other outdoor store yet though.

And, I have big calves, so I don't want anything too tall where that is a problem.

Any suggestions? These are for winter wear and snow play.

I'll be watching. I could've written your post. Post-preg, my old boots don't fit.

I recall trying on aerosoles last year at dsw that were a wider foot fit and definitely larger in the calf.

I wear wide shoes and got a pair last year from Lands End that I still love. Unfortunately, they don't appear to have anything just like what I bought, but you might try LE with a free shipping code so you aren't out anything if you return the boots.

I haven't been able to wear any LE shoes, as they're too narrow. Can you wear there shoes? That might give me an idea of whether boots might work.

What is dsw?

Here: http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/index.jsp Check the "stores" tab - they should have something nearish to you, maybe closer to Detroit.

Also, I've found that Merrell's can be wider; while I did have to order a size up to get Keen's to fit this year - so I'd try Merrell's first if you come across a great deal. Sorry I can't recommend a specific model. I have a regular size (B) foot, but have orthotics so often need a wide width.

LLBean has wides in their boots - that's what I am going to buy (when my budget finally allows me to!) - and they have free shipping codes around.

I can sometimes wear their wide shoes. Sometimes they are too narrow or just fit crappy. For reference, I can't buy a regular shoe that runs wide - those are always too narrow for me.

Before Christmas, someone posted deals on the Bargain Board from a plus size women's website. I recall that they sold a lot of wide shoes and boots made for larger calves. I will see if I can dig that website up, because it might have what you need.

ETA: Tried to find the thread and I couldn't. But that might give you a new direction to follow.

I have these:

and they are worth EVERY penny. I even wore them without socks to run an errand this morning.
