View Full Version : Where did you buy your planner?

I usually get my small (not 8x10, but not the little checkbook sized ones) planner from B&N when they go on clearance after the new year. I just checked and they have almost nothing left! They usually have a ton even into 75% off. What they had was $7+ and not my style. If they still had the refills for the leather cover I have, I would totally get that, but they stopped carrying them :(

Anyway, I checked at Target, TJMax, and Staples, and they either don't have any or they are not on sale at all. Is there any place I'm missing?

I bought mine at Staples but it wasn't on sale. Have you tried Walmart?

I usually get this on every year: http://www.ataglance.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product3_10052_10002_129492_-1_false_10052 They used to carry it at Staples, but I have had to get it online for the past couple of years.

I like having the phone book and pad of paper in the back, but I hate the price - even the refill price is annoying. This year I thought I would go with a small monthly calendar so I can see everything at once, rather than week by week.

I will be interested to see what others use!

I was having a tough time finding one I liked this year. We were actually at our local B&N last night and they still had a decent selection at 50% off. I picked up one w/ the 3 3/4 x 6 3/4 page size for $10 (marked down from $20) and it is super cute. I'll probably swap some inserts out (have strong preferences there) but I liked it better than options I was seeing elsewhere for more money.

any chance you have more than one B&N in your area?

I use Google Calendar online and on my ipod Touch. I keep this At A Glance calendar in the kitchen just in case. I like the yellow page because that's where I plan or jot down random notes before adding them to my real electronic calendar. http://www.ataglance.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product3_10052_10002_118142_-1_false_10052

Have you tried a Border's bookstore? the calendars and planners are all 50%, I think, as of at least a few days ago. I got my Sandra Boynton mom's family desk planner for $8.xx including tax and free shipping from borders.com last month. I think that there's a unique 33% off coupon circulating now too --not sure if you can use that on top of the 50% markdown though.

I got one last night at Office Depot, but it was full price. I was willing to pay it though for one laid out the way I wanted. :)

I just bought another Blue Sky planner from Target. They never go on much of a clearance, but I don't care. I :heartbeat: them. I had been using a MomAgenda since August and chucked it to go back to the Blue Sky. I also looked at time.mine and the other mom related ones at Borders recently (all at 50% off), but they're just bigger than I need. I like to keep it in my purse, and not have it fill up my bag.

I'm on Google Calendar & ipod touch now, but for YEARS I used Moleskine weekly planners. They're elegant, lots of space to write, durable and less than $15 on Amazon.

I just use a blackberry.

I just looked at the Moleskine ones and it's a shame that they are only 9x14 for the pocket size, that's desk size IMHO. I wish they were more for a purse size 4x6 or even 5x7. I ended up getting a small spiral bound 3/1/2 x 6 weekly/monthly planner Dec. 09 to Jan. 11 at Staples for $13.99, it's the Staples brand. It was more than I wanted to pay, but it's going to work for what I need it for, plus it's bright pink so it's easy to spot. For personal use it's great, and might be what you are looking for. At a Glance and Day Minder also makes similar sizes.

I hope to get a smart phone (either a Blackberry or a Droid) later this year so maybe I'll eventually make the leap to electronic, but part of me still really likes paper, and it's much cheaper to replace!:).

iCal, iPod Touch, Contacts and a To Do application.
What I like is that DH syncs to the same calendar etc, so he gets what I get. I just wish that iCal had a better To Do list.

I'm just old fashioned. I prefer to look at and write on a paper calendar. I like the purse size Annie mentioned. I did go to the 2 B&N in my area and nothing I liked, very little selection. I guess I'm spoiled, b/c in prev years, I've gotten a purse-size, spiral bound planner for $3 ish on 75% off. I'm not too picky on the design as long as it's not hideous. I should try Borders, but I think they're a bit far away. Staples had them for full price. I have a great leather cover from a calendar my brother gave me from B&N one year. I would love to just refill that every year. I don't know why they stopped making those particular refills.

My mom bought me one by DayTimer ... it's not purse-sized, but I like the desk size so I can take notes if necessary.

I use my BlackBerry right now, but I do like to have something in the kitchen that I can jot notes down on. I haven't picked one up yet. I used to get Franklin planner refills for a huge discount at work.

I can't tear myself away from my Franklin Covey. This year I bought the Jean Chatzky line of refills...I'm really happy with them so far. Love the design.

I got this one from Borders with my 30% off coupon. I love these Gallery Leather calendars - simple and beautiful.

I like that one. Very similar to the one I used to get refills for. How much did you end up paying?

Thanks Danielle for that link, darn Amazon I swear the one I looked at on their site yesterday after wellyes posted was red and said it was 9x14, which was also the demensions listed on the Moleskine website.

Well, I checked Walmart and they had some, but they were very "plasticky"/cheap. So, I ran into B&N again and found one exactly like I had last year (different cover) for 4.25. They also had the moleskin ones, which were very nice/elegant. The SA said they continue to put out new clearance merch, so I'm glad they put out some new planners. I was starting to get desparate!
