Do bases for infant seats expire?

We're expecting DC #3 in a few weeks and I just dug our SnugRide out of storage to discover it's a little too close to expiration for my comfort. A friend has offered to loan me her (much newer) SnugRide but I still need at least one, and ideally two, extra bases for DH's car and my nanny's car. I'm wondering if I can safely use the base from the old SnugRide as one of the extras, or if that would be considered "expired" at the same time as the seat is. Thanks!

Yes, they expire in December of the 6th year (last time I perused the Graco page it was that, anyway). You might still get some time out of it, then?

Unfortunately its mfg date was in 2003...thanks, though, for the info - I'll be placing an order for 2 new bases tonight (and putting them up for sale on Craigslist in 6-9 months or so...)
