That's code for....how do I prevent DS from throwing it across the room? We have a 200 year old wooden table, which I would prefer not to stick tape on, but I need help keeping the plastic placemat from moving all over the place.

Any tips?

Yep--we love our tiny diner suction placemat--esp. for eating out. As an alternative, have you considered just doing without the placemat? I mean, it's not too hard to wipe down a table, and even though your table sounds like a lovely antique, I'd think it could probably stand up to most kid foods without staining. Another option might be to get some of the removable 3M adhesives (either tacky gum or removable tape or whatever) to hold the placemat down without damaging the table.

I had to laugh when I read this because it sounds like my daughter. She thinks throwing the plate, placemat and silverware on the floor is code for "I'm finished, now remove me from my chair"! :-)

In our house if you toss the placemat you lose the placemat. While it will subject your table to a messy meal that time. It does seem to minimize this behavior for my 2.5 year old.
