This is assuming DC are well, nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm interested in any thoughts or advice or reflections on this topic that anyone might like to share...

And yes DC are both asleep and I could be sleeping now but instead I'm creating this poll on sleep.

Sweet dreams!

OK, I meant do you not you you in the poll but can't figure out how to fix it, so there ya go.

Clearly, I myself need much more sleep.

I get about 7 hours of sleep every night even though DS sleeps for 10 hours. DH wakes up before 6am since his nurses always page him to let him know they're almost ready for him and I just get up also at that time to make him coffee. I never go back to sleep afterwards. I could use more sleep and I could be sleeping right now...

DD2 still gets up twice a night and DD1 has been having nightmares so I sometimes get as little as 5 hours (no more than 2 consecutive hours without 1 of them waking up and crying for me). If I'm lucky, I might get 8 hours total if I can fall back asleep immediately, as I go to bed at 9 and get up for work at 6. So I voted an average of 7. On weekends, DH tries to entertain them so I can sleep in until 8, which is just glorious!

I have some weird problem that makes it difficult to go to bed, especially when DH is gone. I tend to stay up really late, and I have to get up pretty early to get DS ready for school. So this week I have averaged about 3-4 hours per night.

I try for 8 but have been having a hard time falling asleep early enough. I get 7-7.5.

I really, really, really try to make sure I get at least 7.5 if not 8 hours. I see what sleep deprivation does to people short term and long term. It means giving up some "me" time in the evening to get to bed, but I think of it as another type of me time.

If I'm not having pregnancy insomnia, I generally get 8+ hours each night. I'm getting up every hour to use the bathroom, but generally fall right back asleep. I'm trying to get as much sleep as I can before the new little one arrives because I know things will be crazy once baby comes home.

My kiddos are asleep by 9:00 and I'm usually asleep by 10:00 and then up by 06:00. I'd love to sleep in later but DH's alarm goes off at 5:45.

Due to pregnancy insomnia (once I get up, sometimes I can't fall back asleep for two hours), I typically get either 7 or 9 hours (9 on a good night; 7 on a night I wake up and can't get back to sleep for two hours.)

I need serious sleep when I'm pg, so right now, 8 hours+. Normally closer to 7 though, and soon, way less no doubt!

I usually get 6.5-7 hours. I go to bed between 10 and 10:30 and up at 5:00.

I should go to bed earlier, but the kids aren't in bed until 8/8:30 and I have stuff I need to do around the house.

I try for 7 hrs, but too often it's 5-6 hrs.

I'd love to get 7-7.5hrs (and hope to one day again soon) but with babies still waking at night, pumping needs and boys who rise very early, a good night is 5 hours of broken sleep. Most nights are less than that.
