I think I've finally settled on getting the old model monterey for DD, who is 5 1/2 and outgrowing her current seat. Our Ford Focus doesn't have LATCH and the shoulder belt is one of those where the latch plate slides on the seat belt. Do I need to buy a separate locking clip (before we had a Roundabout and a Boulevard so we just used the lock off on the car seat)? If I do, does it matter what kind? This is the Sunshine Kids one shown on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Sunshine-Kids-Super-Locking-Child%C2%B4s/dp/B000BUTCPS/ref=sr_1_3/185-6426599-5799603?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1263044465&sr=8-3
Thanks,
Clarisa

Nope. You don't 'install' a booster the way you install a car seat, it doesn't need to stay tight. It just lifts the kiddo up, and the seatbelt acts the same way with booster+kid as it does for you as an adult. Just plop it on the seat, kiddo sits in it, and you put the belt through the belt guides and you're all done :)

Thanks Jools! I feel like it has taken me 5+ years to become semi-competent with car seats, and now I have to retrain on boosters!

LOL, I know, there's always more to learn than you thought there could be :). I'm sure you'll love your Monterey, though!
