DD has a bday party this weekend. I have this doll that I purchased on impulse from Amazon. I was going to give it to DD but she has enough and doesn't really like Barbie type dolls. Would you give it to a 4 YO girl for her bday? Is it a cheesy gift? I paid $10 for it and the "retail" is $25. I have a new Barbie backpack and was going to give her both.

Be honest.....

If I gave Dora that she'd forsake all other toys :p

So yes, I would.

Thank you both so much! I tend to be such a bargain shopper that I can sometimes confuse the price I pay with the value of the toy! I think the doll is sweet. DD just looked at it and didn't say anything. It's for a classmate that we don't see too often out of school and I'm not too sure what she likes. I will go with it then! Thank you!

I did give that for a 4 YO B-day so my answer is yes!

ITA. It is a very sweet looking doll. DD is 3.5 and I know it would make her heart go pitty-pat. And FWIW we don't do much character stuff, but she loves any and all princesses!

I think the gift itself is fine, but only if you know the parents' preferences...

My 4 yo girls do not know who the disney princesses are, and I prefer they not have Barbies (I understand I will have less control in the future, but our friends so far have known my preferences). Sorry to be difficult!

Princess dolls are not our thing either..... but if we got this one as a gift I would have no issues regifting it to a 4yo that we didn't know very well (or that we knew liked princesses).

I agree with the above except I don't have girls, just a boy. We don't do character toys though and either does my sister and her oldest daughter will turn 4 in March. I wouldn't give that gift to my niece but I think it's a fine gift in terms of price point. Just not my preference.

Oh, that's darling. Yes, that doll and a backpack would be a big hit, I imagine.

Perfect for a 4yo as far as I am concerned.

My DD would probably love it. But if someone gave it to my DD, I would try and make it disappear as soon as possible. (You asked for honesty!) I truly detest these princess dolls.

My dd LOVED all the princess barbies at that age, and had one very similar.

Thanks everyone! I am giving it to her this weekend! No worries on her family not liking princesses and such-the party is Hanna Montana themed (yes, for a 4 YO???)
