I need more sleep. I could nap at any given moment in the day, given the right circumstances. DH and I work FT, get home, feed kids, play for a little bit, get the kids in bed around 9, and then do chores/projects/tv watching until 11pm. It's really too late.

What time do you go to bed at night?

Between 9:30-10:30 I am asleep. It's not unusual for me to head to bed around 9 to read, surf the web or play my DS for a little while. I need a lot of sleep and I never get to sleep past 7. EVER.

ETA: My kids go to bed around 7, so I have a chance to do some stuff around the house before my bedtime.

I will be paying attention to this thread because DH and I are having the same problem.... I am on my third cup of coffee today and I am still fighting sleep off a work.

Um. . . around 8. Probably the earliest of anyone I know and everyone on the board.

DD goes to bed at 7:30, and I go to bed after doing the least I can get away with.

DH has to be on the road by 6 in good weather, so we're up very early too.

DH & I also work FT. DS is a pretty lousy napper so once he gets home its dinner for him, play a bit, bath & sleep. Around 7:30pm is when I get dinner started for DH & me. Eat around 9pm. Then tv/chores/work stuff etc. I am trying to be in bed by 10:30pm (but it usually gets to 11pm) so that I can get up by 6:30am atleast. DH can sleep pretty late (~11am) & still be up by 6am but I absolutely need atleast 8hrs of sleep else I feel awful the next day.

at the earliest 8:30. Usually in bed by 9:30 for sure. Sometimes stay up reading. But average I would say I am sleeping by 9:30, sometimes earlier. My kids are in bed by 8:15 or so.

It varies. Some nights I fall asleep while Matthew is reading me a bedtime story - between 7:30 and 8. On a good day I try to be in bed, with my book, by 10 pm, but that doesn't always happen. I am usually doing laundry, following up on personal email, unloading the dishwasher, prepping for dinner the following evening until 11pm. I am up by 5:50am no matter what.

I am reading this and trying to figure out when I am going to the gym as part of my c25k resolution and it isn't looking very good. I guess I will be in the gym by 5am, which means I will definitely be asleep before Matthew!

Most of my friends kids (around DS's age ~18m-2y) go to bed around 9pm. They all usually have dinner at the same time 7:30-8:30am and atleast the moms are in bed around the same time as the kids ~9pm-9:30pm.

Between 11 and 12. DS gets us up at 7am. I need more sleep. We're starting up our workout routine again tomorrow so I expect to get to bed earlier. My 2 hour bath after DS goes to bed (at 8) is about the only time I get to read but 1) I need to get more sleep and 2) I need to cut back on the water usage, the bill is too high! I also need to be getting more done around the house, most of which happens after DS goes to bed since I work during school hours on my "home" days.

Never before midnight. Usually closer to 1. I'm 5 months pregnant and not getting enough sleep. Yikes.

I'm usually asleep by about 10-10:15. DH and I both work full time. We're home around 6 pm, eating around 7-7:30 (DS sometimes eats earlier and sometimes he eats with us. lunch at daycare is his big meal of the day regardless), then bathtime (or not) and DS is in bed by 8:30, sometimes a little earlier. DH does the cleaning up after dinner while I put DS down. We usually crawl into bed around 9 pm and watch some TV or read for a while. But, we're up at 5:30 at the latest the next morning.

My 2 hour bath after DS goes to bed (at 8) is about the only time I get to read.

You really spend 2 hours in the bath? My skin would never survive!

I aim for 10pm, but it's been later recently. I had a set routine when I was working outside the home, but now that I work from home things are much more fluid. I used to be up every day before 6 and out the door by 7:15, but now there are days when I am just rolling out of bed by 7. I REALLY need to get back into a routine. My body works much better when I sleep the same hours each day.

12 ish. But, DD doesn't wake until 9ish. I have insomnia, so some nights I am not asleep til 3...

Usually between 10-11pm. I really should go to bed earlier since DS is asleep usually by 8:30-9pm.

My bed time on a good night is between 10 and 10:30. On a bad night it's closer to 11. I am suppose to get up at 5:15 or so I can be at work at 7 am. Last night I started getting a migraine so I went to bed at 9:30, at 5:45 I felt better than ever. I really need to work on going to bed earlier.

Most nights I turn out the lights at 11:30...after the news...although it's not unusual for me to doze off earlier. The boys usually are asleep by around 8-8:30...but the baby often likes a late night snack around 11. If I'm lucky he sleeps through the night, but more often than not he wakes around 4, nurses a little and we all fall back to sleep until the alarm goes off at 6. We hit the snooze once (actually DH hits the snooze...it's on his side of the bed) sometimes twice, then I get in the shower and get ready to start the day. We have to be dressed, fed, and out the door by 7:45...well the boys and I...DH works from home when he's not traveling.

Ideally, I go to bed at 10pm. DD goes to sleep by 7:30. I need to be at work at 7:45 and wake up at 6am. Lately, I've been going to sleep at 11 and therefore only getting 7 hours of sleep and I can feel the difference. I really need the 8 hours to feel human and productive during the day.

It's not unheard of. I aim for one bath a week (usually take two though as a way to wind down.) I start with just a little hot water and then keep doing "warm ups" when the water cools off. Anything less than a half hour isn't worth it to me, and my bath tends to run between 1 and 2 hours, depending when I start and how good my book is. My skin seems to be fine, just a little wrinkly on the feet when I go to bed.

Bedtime around here is ridiculous right now. C goes to sleep around 8PM, and we start bedtime with L&M around 9. Most night M will stay up until 11 or later. L usually falls asleep between 9:30 and 10. See...ridiculous!

Neither of them nap anymore so the only kid-free time I get is after they are asleep. I usually get in bed around 11 and don't go to sleep until 1 or 1:30. If I start watching Jimmy Fallon at 12:30 I will definitely stay up until 1:30.

The only good thing is that I don't usually get out of bed until 9AM, so it's not terrible...but that doesn't count one or two night feedings for C. I think I'm so beyond exhausted I don't even feel it anymore!

1am for me. I'm up by 8, sometimes earlier. DH just started a job where he has to leave the house by 7am, so I think I am going to start getting up when he leaves so i can do a workout dvd. I might need to be in bed around midnight if I start getting up earlier, but we'll see how it goes.

Wow, I can't believe I'm the only one so far with a 1-2am bedtime! I know its insane, but I thought it was common anyways. I'm RARELY asleep before 1 (when I am, its an early night!). I wake up around 7:30. I'm pretty tired during the day, but nothing crazy. Guess I just dont need much sleep. DH is the same way.

11:30, after the news. I'm up at 7am every day. My kids go to bed at 9 and I MUST have time to myself and with dh or I'll lose it. I cannot possibly go to sleep right after they do or I feel like I lost the whole night and dh and I don't get to talk and catch up. I always get a second wind after they are all tucked in anyway and have to force myself to go to bed at 11:30.

I don't get off work till 11:30 so by the time I get home and wind down a bit it is at least 12:30 before I get to bed. We are up early here, at least by 6:30, usually closer to 5:30. It's not ideal but until I find a new job it is what it is.

I'm rarely in bed before 1 am, then am up around 7am. As much as it pains me to wake up at 7, I am truly a night person and can't force myself to go to better earlier even if I try. It has been this way since I was young and neither school, nor jobs, nor having ids has been able to change it!

LAtely, I've been giong to bed around 11pm-12am. Really, too late. I just enjoy having quiet/relaxing time to myself. When I lay down with DS at night before he goes to bed, many times I almost fall asleep, but when I get up, I'm ready to go again for some "me" time. DD wakes up at 5am, so I really should go to bed earlier.

Thanks everyone for your replies! Glad I'm not the only one struggling with this. I think if I could back up bedtime to 10-10:30pm, that would help out more.

Someday I guess!

After reading this thread, I decided to try to go to sleep earlier. Last night, I was ASLEEP by 10:30. That is major for me! Of course, I got next to nothing done around the house. How do those of you who work outside the home do it? Just supper, clean-up, and laundry takes a couple hours. And I'm only dealing with 1 baby. I just dont see how I could get to bed at that time every night, and also get errands and housework done. It would be so nice though...I felt so rested this morning!

I try to be in bed by 10, but it's usually 10:30 and I am up at 5, out the door at 5:45.

Well, the benefit to my early schedule is that I'm at work by 6:30 and leave around 3:30. That means I am home before 4:30. I do some quick things around the house and then pick the kids up from daycare/after care at 5. We eat dinner at 5:30/5:45 and the kids are in bed by 8:30. So I have an hour or so in the evenings to do things.

But since I went back to work full time, DH does almost all of the household errands. I make lists and he does almost all the grocery and household shopping and most of the meal prep. Sunday is my laundry day. And I have cleaners who come every 2 weeks and I do only very, very basic cleaning in between their visits.

You can't do it all.

I'm trying to get to bed by 10pm at the latest. I work 3 days a week and have to get up at 5am during those days. But usually I get up around 11pm - midnight. I actually can function pretty well. I don't drink anything caffinated. But I think it would better for me to get at least 7 hours of sleep.

I'm a night owl. Not usually in bed before 11pm, hopefully asleep by midnight.

But one of my New Years Resolutions is to get more sleep. Unfortunately, the only way I can get my body to go to bed earlier is to take a Tylenol PM. But I've been trying to be lights out by 10:30/11.
