Dd wants to have a V-Day Party. There are no birthdays, so I have agreed. Any fun suggestions for the 6-8 yr old crowd? I'll have between 6-14 girls on a Sat. afternoon. Girly but not too messy is good.

-decorating heart-shaped sugar cookies (I always like the "stained glass" cookies, like these: http://www.pastrywiz.com/dailyrecipes/recipes/670.htm, though I haven't used this exact recipe before)

-making and decorating paper doll friend valentines (you know, the old-school kind of paper dolls where you make a whole chain of them like this: http://home.howstuffworks.com/paper-dolls3.htm)

-play a simple game, maybe a variation on pin the tail on the donkey (you could use heart or lip-shaped stickers to "pin" to a cupid printout or something), or even musical chairs played with fun, goofy love songs

There are so many sites with ideas for V-day parties

I know a family who has a "red" meal for Valentines day

steak, roasted baby red potatoes, red salad (red leaf romaine, tomato and red cabbage), red fruit salad or skewers (watermelon, red grapes, strawberries), red velvet cake or cupcakes for dessert!

I think a tea party could be lots of fun for girls on Valentines day. You could also try to follow the red food idea

~strawberries and red grapes (you could cut watermelon with small heart cookie cutters)
~mini sandwiches
~red velvet cupcakes
~vegi platter with red bell peppers, cherry tomatoes and radishes
~red punch

You could make sugar cookies and let the girls decorate them themselves... white, pink and red icing, heart sprinkles, sugar sprinkles etc

one more thought if you ended up with only 6 girls... the girls could make their own small heart shaped pizzas. you make up the dough in the shape and they put their toppings on!
