I want a designer like on those hgtv shows to come to my house and show me the potential and provide some over arching vision to the renovations we do in the future. We can't afford to do it all in one year, and we try to do a lot ourselves -but, what invariably happens is that down the road we discover some minor/major flaw in something we did that would have been obvious if we considered the whole house -not just that specific project.
At some point in our lives I'd like to look around and think -ahhh, this place looks cohesive and put together - not like some patchwork of ideas that do and don't always work together.
I'd also like someone who would take into consideration passive solar as we plan to replace windows and doors on our south side of the house.
So is it an architect that I need? How does that work? Do they charge an hourly fee? Does anyone know what this could cost?
