Trying to decide what favor to give at DS party (about 25 kids ages 1-5)
1) Crayon Rolls @$8 each
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=38114448

2) Mini gumball machines filled with jellybeans $5 each or $2.95 each
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25333630
or

3) Sidewalk paint @2.50

Thoughts? If you would go with the gumball machine which one would you pick?
We are doing a My Gym party & the theme is a spin off of the invite:

Thanks for the help

I wouldn't give jelly beans, as they are a choking hazard. The Crayon rolls are really $$$$ IMHO.

From those option the paint would be my vote.

I like the idea of the paint sets. I just had a party for DS and included crayon rolls. I ordered just crayon rolls without a notepad and they were a big hit. We gave them out Sunday and used DS' yesterday at lunch.

I like the sidewalk paint best.

Wow! The crayon rolls are way out of my price range, especially 25 of them! Although I like the idea. For DD's party in a few weeks I went to Wal-Mart and bought big bouncy balls for $1 a piece. It goes with our bright color theme & polka-dot invites. If you don't mind the $$ go for the crayon rolls, but I really like the sidewalk paint too.

I love the idea of the crayon rolls but that would be way too expensive for my budget. I agree that the jellybeans are not safe for LOs. The sidewalk paint looks great, and very unique. I think my kids would adore that!!

DH suggested putting m&ms in the gumball machines so the colors (lime & blue) can match the theme & not be a chocking hazard. Plus 80% of the guest will be 4-5 yr olds. So we are going the blue gumball machine route.

Thanks everyone!

Just another thought- Bouncy balls or a bottle of bubbles with a dollar store mylar balloon tied to it would work and be inexpensive.

I'd love to get the crayon rolls and that'd be a GREAT favor for a small party. But honestly they'd be useless for the younger kid anyway. DD would love to take crayons out of it but would not have the dexterity/patience to put them back in every time.

With 25 kids getting to go to an already-extravagant party (as in , not a backyard party) I'd definitely go with #3.

Okay, I'm going to toss out another idea for you. I think it would work
for a wide range of kids and ages.

A balloon ball. My sister is going to give these out for her son's 2nd birthday
and she is going to send one to each of my kids. My kids are aged 8 and 5 and
they will still love the balloon ball. It looks like fun to me too!!

It says that they are $6 each but I'm wondering is she would work with you
on the price since you are doing a big order. I would ask.

As for your suggestions,

1. crayon roll- I LOVE this idea! The younger kids won't appreciate it
though and it is expensive especially for 25 kids.

2. bubble gum dispenser- I still think of m&ms as a choking hazard. Again,
the younger kids would probably end up breaking it. Most food items that would
go inside the bubble gum dispenser would not be good for a toddler.
Not a fan of this one.

3. I like the sidewalk paint idea. But I guess it really depends on where
you live. Our driveway is covered in snow. For me, this is really a spring/
summer item unless you live in a warm climate and it can be used now.

That's my opinion. I love discussing party favors. :) I also put alot of
thought into them.

I like the crayon roll idea, but don't think that an $8 party favor is necessary. Next, I like the sidewalk paint idea.

I would probably take away any candy given as a favor - after loading up on cake and ice cream at a party, the last thing the kids need is more sugar that day. Honestly, I think that parents appreciate non-candy consumables (crayons, paint, notebooks, etc.) or small, durable toys like matchbox cars in party bags.

Not to throw another monkey wrench in it, but we attended a party at a My Gym and I think my friend said that the facility provided the favors? We got a little re-usable nylon bag with some sand toys in it. But maybe I misunderstood...

What about something like the favor above with snow themed toys?

I'd save the crayon roll for when the kids are older and will really love it, like about 3 years old. DD would think it was super cool.

What about a mini crayon roll?

I did snack catchers and a little package of a healthy cereal to go inside for my twins' 1st birthday party (all the other kids there ranged in age from 8-15 months). It was a huge hit.

I also considered doing balloon balls - I thought that was just SO COOL. But the snack catchers were cheaper:)

We opted not to do the My Gym favors..they are an add on. DS is actually the only 1 yr old at the party so the favors are geared more for the 3.5-5.5 yr olds that will be there.

I looked at the balloon balls since balls are DS favorite toy & they go with the bubble.polka dot theme. I just wasn't sure about the quality of construction & which etsy seller to go with. The crayon rolls would be the same seller as DD's...she got one for her 2nd Bday & we take it everywhere---just an awesome gift.
