Mixing EBM

Is it okay to mix frozen EBM (after it has thawed) from different pumping sessions or even different days? I have a large quantity of frozen BM but most if it is in smaller amounts than DD now needs. So I would like to mix a few bottles/bags after it is thawed.

yes, it is fine. Just be careful - frozen milk only keeps for 24hrs after thawing.

:yeahthat: I would pour the smaller amounts together immediately before feeding (and do a sniff test to make sure it's okay before mixing.)

This may sound stupid, but what exactly is BM supposed to smell like? None of my EMB smells like sour cow's milk, so I am guessing it isn't sour, but what is a normal smell?

Normally my milk smells like nothing (at least to me.) If you have excess lipase frozen milk may smell (and taste) a bit like soap. It's still fine to drink but some babies won't take it. Bad milk smells like sour milk-- really an unmistakable smell. I'm always more cautious with frozen milk than fridge milk.

Yes. And you will know if milk went bad. It is really revolting. So don't worry if it just smells or looks a little funny.
