My DH got me a massage for Christmas (Yay!). What do you do about tipping when you've gotten a gift certificate? How much do you typically tip for a massage? I don't know if it's regional, but if so, I live in Oklahoma.

TIA!

If it was a good massage, I'd tip 20% of the value. Massages here range from $60-$100 outside of the city....enjoy :)

I tip 20% if I was given a gift card. Make sure the tip wasn't included though. I did get a gift certificate from dh once and it said "Gratuity included" so I guess he paid it upfront. Enjoy!

I think the norm is 20% of the massage price for a good massage. Enjoy!

Do you just give them some cash at the end? This girl is actually at a physical therapy office, so it's not a like a salon where everyone is tipped.

I was in an identical situation a month ago. Tip was 15 to 20% and since my gift card value exceeded the cost of the massage, I used it for the tip too. The receptionist said it was fine, not uncommon. My gift card was from Christmas 2008 and I had about a week to use up or lose the card, so I was more than happy to use it for the tip too.

I tip 20% of the value and ya, just hand it to her at the end. Especially if she's at a physical therapy place. She's making so little so I'm sure she'd really appreciate your tip.

I also tip 20%.

I would tip 15 to 20% of the massage value, depending on the service.
